The Entertainer is a boutique publishing company that has created a strong brand in the market over the last nine years. Today The Entertainer is a household name as a result of the books simple easy to use concept offering incentives in the form of a buy one get one free at restaurants, attractions and beauty centres throughout the GCC. Added to this the brand also has Eating Out Guides in five different countries, a UAE diary and over 30 clients who it produces loyalty books for. The Entertainer is set to become one of the most recognizable brands in the region.
Started by Donna Benton in 2001, the idea was very simple - make dining in Dubai more affordable whilst getting more customers into the restaurants that participated in the book. The business model behind the first Entertainer book involved residents and visitors purchasing one of the books that contained discount vouchers with a combined value far exceeding the cover price of the book itself. The discounts are all based around a two for the price of one incentive.
The first book was launched in 2001 and over the past nine years the growth rates have been phenomenal with the company now producing over 20 different publications in five different countries. The main challenges have been with the fact that because this had not been done before, it was not always easy selling an unknown concept to the outlets with no guarantee of returns. This has been the case for each of the subsequent titles but each time success has been achieved and this is shown by the fact that the publications get bigger and more successful year on year. The Entertainer Family is the most well known brand but others include Entertainer Fine Dining, Entertainer Body Book, Entertainer Kids, Entertainer Abu Dhabi, Entertainer Bahrain, Entertainer Qatar, Entertainer Oman and Eating Out guides. The company has published several one-off publications such as the official Australian Rules Football programme 2008, the official publication for the World CEO Forum in Dubai, and The Disney High School Musical official programme.
The main philosophy with the company is that of quality. In all aspects of the business the company insists that whatever it produces has to be of a certain standard maintaining the reputation that it has and this has been recognized through the phenomenal growth that the brand has achieved and continue to achieve in the business.
The Entertainer brand now is synonymous with quality for both the participating outlets and the consumer. It is one of the most recognizable brands in the market today and with further expansion the brand is only going to grow as more titles are launched and new countries entered. The company also has a very successful loyalty programme that it runs for several large organizations in the GCC. They take advantage of the offers it has and pass them onto their customers in the form of loyalty books.
