I’ve been a member of IHG rewards for quite some time and desk agent Danzyl made our stay a thing to remember. She knows how to handle a client from end to end and others can learn from her a thing or two. Hotel staff were all accommodating. 10/10.More
Beautiful stay! Intercontinental Hotel is a perfect place to stay in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The room was very pleasant, it was cozy and clean. Breakfast was excellent and incredibly varied. The hotel team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. That impressed me the most. No matter what time of day or night, you could turn to them with all your concerns. On my next stays, I will definitely check to IHG again. We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Special Thanks the filipino receptionist who assisted me, to Ms Melanie and Ms Danzel. Salute!More
First time visiting Abu Dhabi not disappointed, staff were very friendly and courteous nothing too much trouble. Towels and water were provided at the pool, not many holiday resorts do this. Excellent service from the concierge staff. Staff to be mentioned are Tubby - pool services, Milanie - restaurant manager, Kanij - drinks at the pool, Prabath - lifeguard. Not forgetting Melanie - concierge. Would highly recommend.More
My wife and I took a 9 day break here in mid May. Could not fault anything about the hotel, the staff are all excellent and particular thanks to the Concierge Staff who are the best I have ever experienced in any hotel in the world. The Lebanese Restaurant and the Fish Market Restaurant are truly super, wonderful food and good staff. The Belgian Bar has first class pub food and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be returning again. 10 out of 10 stay!More
What a great holiday. The place reminded us of Dubai 25 years ago. The Intercontinental Hotel is lovely. We were met by Shiju who was one of the two concierges. He helped us plan our various trips & recommended various ways of doing them. We soon realised that Covid in the UAE is taken extremely seriously, and in order to visit shopping malls etc, you need to take a PCR test as proof that you are Covid free. We arranged (Via Shiju) to have ours done in the Hotel at a cost of around £60pp but we could have had it done cheaper at a local medical centre. Unfortunately, it was Ramadan & the Medical Centre was closed, Be sure to have your smartphone at hand with your PCR test as this was checked in all shopping malls. Alternatively, request a print-out version at reception, We did stay all-inclusive, which is a must as the drinks can be expensive. We did like the fact that our drinks were free-until 11pm. Drinks could be purchased after 11pm, but this did help prevent any drunken rowdiness as we didn't witness any such behaviour. The staff were all excellent, the English language was no barrier as all the staff spoke English. We had a City facing room, which was very clean and tidy. The facilities at the Hotel were excellent, including the bars, the Gym, the Sauna and the plunge pool. The Hotel offered a number of different dining areas including a Fish Restaurant, an Italian Restaurant , The Belgian Café, and the Lebanese Restaurant (Byblos} and a general dining area on the 3rd floor. Incidentally, most days we were both meeted & greeted by probably the happiest woman on the planet (Junita). She definitely has the knack of lifting ones spirit! Milanie, the director of food in the dining area was constantly on the go & nothing was too much trouble for her. Both ladies were exceptional in their respective jobs. The pool on the 3rd floor was really clean and pleasantly, there was no mad rush for sun loungers. Even at 10-11 am there were beds available. The pool staff were brilliant too..Prabath and Chabilal went out of there way to ensure guests were comfortable and they ensured we all had towels, parasols and iced water available to us. Not forgetting Kanij who was the poolside barman. We could order at the swim up bar or at the bar itself and he would deliver both drinks & snacks directly to our sunbeds. Most evenings we would have drinks outside at the Belgian Café. Roshan (The Floor Manager) had his finger on the pulse ensuring that guests didn't have to wait too long before being served. We were extremely well looked after by trainees Ashmi & Elison. They were super happy, very attentive and delightfully polite. Very hard working and a credit to Intercontinental. Often we would visit the lobby bar on our return back from a trip and would be looked after by Sujan. Again, it was simply a matter of ordering our drinks and Sujan would soon provide table service. We visited the Lebanese Restaurant one evening and what a nice change to have table service as opposed to buffet meals. Kamal, the manager looked after us extremely well, and explained how things were done in the Lebanon. The meal was fantastic so credit to the Chefs and Kamal for how we were treated, well done guys. As far as the meals in the hotel goes, there was a very good selection in my view, and the quality of most of the meals were excellent. There are a lot of chicken & fish dishes (Including Curries which suited me perfectly) although some of the beef dishes could be a little tough. On the whole, from me, the chefs were brilliant...and thanks for the 10lb I put on...Even though I did visit the Gym and Sauna on a few occasions!! Beware regarding Taxis. Most taxis will only seat up to 3 people. When we required a four seater, Shiju wold order us a family cab that can seat 4 people. Indeed, we opted for a Taxi visit back to Dubai to visit Burj Khalifa. Tickets were arranged for us & we had the Taxi for 10 hours that took us all over to see the sights. Much better value than the big bus. Taxis are probably the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to see Abu Dhabi. We toured Abu Dhabi using the big open top bus, but nobody in our group of four thought it was good value for money...especially as it was around £100 pp. On arrival at the hotel, we found that we had to pay a Government tax at around 15 UAD per person per night, so this is about £96 per couple for a two week stay. We didn't realise this, so be sure to budget for it. We also visited Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. This is a must. If you do go, make sure you go around 5-5.30pm You will see the mosque in daylight and at sunset. The chandeliers are incredible. I can't remember the name of the guide that we had, but he was brilliant and very funny. Our stay at Intercontinental, Abu Dhabi was so pleasant that all four of us plan to return, not just to Abu Dhabi... but the same Hotel. In 45 years of travelling, this will be the first and only time we have done that. I would suggest that speaks volumes for the Hotel and Staff at the Intercontinental! And finally, I must wish Monaliza a very belated happy birthday. She was one of the delightful receptionists that we had the pleasure of meeting during our stay. Indeed, all of the receptionist were excellent! Not forgetting....Well done to Etihad Airways for not just a comfortable flight, but for the excellent service that we received from your flight crew. Good job!More
