My wife and I recently got married, we were planing to do it in the Seychelles next year but with all the uncertainty of Covid-19 we thought lets just do it sooner rather than later. So I was under a bit of pressure to sort out a hotel for a short staycation honeymoon in Doha, a reception for a small amount of guests that attended the wedding ceremony and a larger dining experience for more guests the day after, all considering Covid restrictions, so no easy task! I got in touch with the Grand Hyatt as I have attended functions there before for the Trafalgar Night celebrations which were very good. After making initial contact with Guest Services to arrange the suite I was contacted by Mr. Akhilesh to arrange the dining. Akilesh, Mr Vignesh and Mr Adisak were very responsive to my emails and texts and contacted me promptly which was greatly appreciated. We checked in to our suite and I booked the Notebook package for my wife so we had the rose petals laid out, a lovely bouquet of roses, towel swans and a bottle of wine, it looked amazing and my wife was very happy. The piece de resistance for us was the writing on the mirror in lipstick saying 'Happy Honeymoon' that was very special indeed. Mr Adisak the Isaan Manager had arranged for our small reception party to be seated in a private room which was a great surprise for our family. We chose to order from the Ala Carte menu and the food was amazing so congrats to the chefs. We were served by Cherry and Pop and they provided us with a excellent service and Adisak came and congratulated my wife and I which I thought was a nice touch. If you haven't eaten at Isaan I strongly recommend it. The next day we had a 3 hour family menu style 'brunch' with 32 of our friends, which were on tables of no more than 5 and observed social distancing in the Santa Monica Breakfast Club and the staff ensured we kept social distancing throughout the day. We were served by Sezim, Johan and Reymark who gave a great service and kept the refreshments coming. Special mention to Reymark who served my table and did an outstanding job, thank you. We met Mr Vignesh who is the General Manager and he came and checked on us throughout the day ensuring our party were happy with the service and if there was anything more he could do. Thank you Vignesh for your caring attentiveness. All in all the dining experience in Isaan and the SMBC was great. We did however have a couple of issues with the suite. We were left rather short on the shower/bathing products in the bathroom and didn't have any shampoo. This was only noticed by my wife while she was in the shower as we were getting ready to meet our guests. We called room service and got the shampoo quickly but it would have been better if it was in the shower already. Also the hairdryer stopped working so an engineer came to check it out and then sent housekeeping with a spare so we ended up being 30 minutes late for our awaiting guests in the restaurant which was a tad annoying. Also, when we returned to our suite in the evening it had not been cleaned so that made us pretty upset and this was an escalating issue from the shampoo situation earlier. We spoke to Mr Nabil who allowed us entry to the Lounge while our room was cleaned and he offered a complimentary bottle of wine which was appreciated. I asked for white and we got red but by this time I was tired of dialing zero. Mr Sulfikkarali the Asst Housekeeping Manager did come and apologise to us the next day which was good of him. Apparently you have to request daily cleaning of the room due to Covid restrictions but my wife and I do not recall being informed of this during check in. The housekeeping issues aside, this was a fantastic few days in the Grand Hyatt, my wife and I and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience in Isaan and the SMBC. We cannot wait for the restrictions to be further reduced so we can fully enjoy the dining experience the Grand Hyatt has to offer. Second time and left a happy satisfied guest. Thank you Vignesh and the team. Compliments to the chef the Poached egg with salmon and avo was mouthwatering. Great breakfast selection. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR 2022, Very poor service!!, not recommended at all, DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID, the villas’ and the hotel rooms are very bad and the service is worse and the management is the worst.!!!More
