This was my second time coming here. The tents were really clean and the food was great! They had lactose free menu options as well. We booked the afternoon Safari and spotted rhino’s and giraffes. And of curse the three hippos that are swimming in the lake opposite the tents! Staff is really friendly and the rangers do have a lot of knowledge about the wild life in the park. Highly recommended! Read more
we have enjoyed our 4 days here, beautiful tent directly on the waterhole, very friendly attentive staff, great safari (although lions and elephants are not in the wild), very good kitchen, total relaxing experienceRead more
For us the Budfelsdrift Game Lodge was the best Safari on the whole Gardenroute. You can live so close to the wild animals in luxury tents (of course we have not used the bathtube as you should be careful with your own water usage in a country where water is a rare resource). To watch them coming to the water hole drinking in the evening, listening to their voices in the night was soo amazing! Our tour guide in the morning was not only super nice, but also knowing everything about the special plants, the animals and we even tested a special plant with could help you survive in the desert in case you run out of water. We have seen plenty of wild animals and compared to other safaris we never had the impression of being in a "Zoo". Great job to the Buffelsdrift team and the owners, this is a perfect place to respect mother nature and relaxx!Read more
I arrived late in the evening so I didn't get the full experience of the property. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was excellent. The wildlife safari was the highlight of my stay there.Read more
I agree with the review saying 4* lodge with 5* experience. The tents are very good but they are still canvas construction so can be a little dark (though great for getting young kids to sleep!) and imperfect in terms of heating/cooling. However, everything else is wonderful. Very good staff. Very easy to spot a lot of wildlife on the safaris and there is plenty to see right outside your tent e.g. giraffes, springboks, nyala (right inside the lodge area), etc. Then the elephant brush experience was so good we did it twice. Also, it's a great area to include in a garden route itinerary - the cango wildlife ranch is brilliant, plus there are the caves, ostrich farms, etc.Read more
