I returned to the crown plaza for a 5 day stay after almost a 3 year break and the hotel was as excellent as ever. The reception team were friendly and efficient, they went out of their way to support our team visiting Muscat. Dukes bar is a great place to unwind after a long day, the view over the pool to the Strait of Oman is amazing. The hostess at Dukes is brilliant, always made sure everything was perfect. A great place to stay if you have business in Muscat. Highly recommended.More
The staff are tremendous. Very helpful and really show Oman’s hospitality. Friendly and happy. Thank you so much. It’s a great hotel, lovely rooms and facilities and good food. The location is great for a quiet time, lovely views. If you want to get into the old town or the heart of the city it’s a taxi ride or if your feeling energetic a great walk along the shore. Flat and safe.More
We stayed only two nights at the hotel, it has everything you need. small shops with essentials, pool with beautiful view, pool bar perfect for sunset, spacious gym. I tried the arabic restaurant, the staff there, especially Farhana, who was attending our table, is very friendly and helpful. Food was great. The rooms are spacious enough, the AC was little bit smelly, so during the summer it must be a bit unpleasant, but the rest was ok.More
We stayed several weeks in the hotel. in the last week a high value watch of my wife was robbed by the house keeping. while we were waiting on the balcony. we announced that immediately to the hotel security. but the reaction was more than offending. we had suggestive questions like, are you sure you had the watch with you or do you have an insurance just for the pay out. 3 times they checked our luggage if we accidently put it there.they were treating us like criminals. the security turned the case like we were cheaters. there was no option for going to the police by support of the hotel. a local friend supported us by a driver and translator to go to the police station. the police was shocked about the hotel behavior. but they were also explaining to us, it is a typical behavior of the hotel security, because they do not want the responsibility of a robbery. but it was shocking for us how the hotel behavior was, trying to turn the case to a victim blaming instead of helping us. no sorry of the hotel management, i am even not sure, if the security informed the management of the robbery. about the hotel itself, old facility. location is great for the sunset. breakfast buffet is good, but the restaurants are super bad. we ordered some iranian food one day in advance. the result was disgusting. i called the restaurant manager and i had just one question - is your chef from iran? he sad no, he is from india. the chef had no clue how to cook iranian food. no surprise for me. how can an indian chef know the base knowledge of the iranian kitchen? very bad!More
Hotel was recently upgraded to be a Crowne Plaza (according to hotel mgr) and still working on getting up to speed after Covid and restrictions. Hotel is ongoing maintenances and restaurations in various areas. But overall impression was really good. Hotel appears mostly like a business hotel or drop-in and drop-out hotel for tourists traveling around in Oman. But the hotel also focuses on families and does with great success. Quality of rooms and beds are fine, with good choice in bathroom supplies, soaps etc. There were 2 restaurants open when we were at the hotel. The Italian and the ala carte Restaurant. Food quality is good - very good and tasty selection of dishes. The hotels clear advantage is the service level by the staff all around the hotel - from the lobby with Caroline in control to the restaurant with Santhosh leading his excellent team of Bhavesh, Prashanthe, Avrind and Mayid anong others. They really did outstanding job in making us feel comfortable and relaxed during our stay. We would come back if we needed a short week of pure relaxation and sun for the family. Hotel has excellent gym facilities, squash courts, tennis courts, private beach and two pools connected through a overflow/waterfall system between them. Not the most exciting for children - but it just works really well. Hotel is overlooking the wonderful beach Qurum east of Muscat - great for good pictures during sunset or a romantic getaway.More
