This was a great place to stay for 3 nights before a tour of Oman started! Beautiful grounds, great people, wonderful restaurants, fantastic pool and beach-front. The hotel check in was amazing with a free room upgrade that provided a balcony overlooking the breath-taking pools. Was also MORE THAN impressed with accommodation of a later check out. Fantastic stay overall. Here are some of my observations: - The cab ride from the airport was 10-rials via a metered taxi. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle. - LOVED the welcome dates!!! :-) - If you are an IHG member, you get 25% off of food at the restaurants! Great deal! - Super restaurants. The Iranian restaurant was to die for!!! - Try to get in on the Thursday night seafood buffet. Very expensive but worth every penny! They had EVERYTHING you could possibly want and oh-so-good. - The hotel shuttle that runs to the souq in Mutrah doesn't run until 4pm -- but you can negotiate a non-metered taxi for about 6 rials from the hotel. Returning from the souq back to the hotel, you can get the taxi for less (4 rials). - It is very peaceful / quiet at the hotel on weekdays and Saturday, but Friday was nuts. Don't plan on a quiet day at the pool on a Friday!!! All the ex-pats and their kids seem to descend upon the hotel on Friday to enjoy the pool, while the adults are obviously there for the alcohol. Otherwise, the pool was a quiet and enjoyable oasis. - Rooms aren't huge but well appointed with everything you'll need and some very nice touches. -The walk along the beach-front road to the Opera House is about 40 minutes. Nice walk and wasn't too warm, but reception thought we were nuts for walking it. Not sure why. -Starbucks is an easy walk. - Be careful for glass along the beach. Didn't see glass on the hotel's beachfront, but if you walk barefoot on the public beach adjoining the hotel's, just be careful. Overall, highly recommended. Thanks Crowne Plaza Muscat for a relaxing break before my Oman adventures!Read more
Having been to several brunches in Muscat, this is most definitely one of the best. The food is fresh, a huge variety and selection of drinks too. The staff are attentive, helpful, friendly and pay attention to detail. I appreciated the consistency and amazing hospitality. Well done :-) Read more
This hotel is just perfect. The perfect stay in Muscat with the best location and beach and staff are the best. There are just so many positives but have named a few : great beach, delicious and nice range of breakfast, perfect location in Al Qurum, friendly staff who give useful tips to save you money, lovely beach and swimming pool area, free shuttle bus to Grand Mosque and Mutrah souq which then allows you to cover all of Muscat. What more can you ask for !!! Would definitely stay again if I returned.Read more
Yes, beautiful surroundings and very pretty hotel. Some snagging issues however which detract from its overall excellence. Spent a day here and to be honest, that was sufficient. Not ridiculously expensive to be fair, under 200 euros per night on average. On the plus side - lovely big pools and comfy sun loungers. Great service from Subin in the Italian restaurant. Friendly, helpful and professional. Meal wasn't up to scratch though, consommé was simply a bouillon chicken cube poured over ravioli and the mushrooms on the pizza were tinned ones (yuk!). The cocktail barman whizzes everything in a blender, thereby destroying the subtle flavours which just morph into a slush puppy with too much aerosol-delivered sweet cream (double-yuk!) Invest in an old-fashioned cocktail shaker and grow your own mushies. That's my only advice.Read more
Stayed here whilst visiting friends. Great recent refurbish as the whole hotel feels refreshed and much better than before. The Friday brunch was excellent with a very wide choice and the view has to be the best sunset location in Muscat. Stayed in suite 501 and with the double aspect balconies and spacious living and sleeping areas, definitely ask for this room if you can get it. Dukes bar food selection for Friday evening was good, although they need to be better at keeping everything hot and brought out together (we were only a party of four). All in all a great location, excellent staff and a good place to stay even if it was for only one night. Read more
