Our first time at the Fairmont Palm, and it's safe to say we'll be back. From the local delights served up at 'Al-Magheeb', to the charming character of 'Little Miss India', you're never short of a fantastic place to eat. If you're looking for a beachfront lunch, hit 'Blowfish', an American eatery plucked straight off the set of a 90's family holiday movie. No visit to the Fairmont is complete without visiting 'Delicacy', a lovely tearoom set to the far-left corner of the lobby. The staff are simply superb - we were looked after by Omali and Esther. Their passion for the Fairmont really showed through, as did their dedication to the highest levels of service. We remain incredibly grateful for their hospitality during our stay. Ending as this short review started, we will be back. Thanks for a delightful stay, Fairmont team!More
Overall my family and I enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont, but it fell short in a few areas. The pool area is chaotic - if you're not "towels down" by nine (especially on a weekend) then you're not getting anything at all. Lots of solemn family faces wander around all day looking for a spot. The density of beds in the small space around the family pool means you're getting pretty close to your neighbours. Not quite the 5* experience in our book - so maybe good for some people, but we expected more. The pool area is open to "walk ins" from the paying public with guests not taking priority so unless you're an early bird be prepared to trudge around with your towel Trying to get food or a drink at the pool can be a challenge. You can't walk up to the bar or one of the small booths where the staff work from, but rather have to flag someone down one of the guys taking orders, which is easier said than done. More staff and a different system needed. The one time proximity to the next set of sun beds was useful was when we ordered a drink to be told they were out of stock. The guy on the next bed said he just ordered the same thing and when this was pointed out "behold" they found stock. The quality of what you get is pretty good, but the system is chaos. Lots of life guards at the pool from early to late - these guys were great and helped us with a couple of things, so a big positive there. Building work ongoing at the site next door to the family pool area so lots of hammering and clanking around. After a while that noise gets lost as it blends into the background but if peace and quiet is at the top of your wish list then take that into consideration Generally food was a highlight. All the onsite options are pretty good. Al Magheeb was half empty when we tried it, but it was the usual attentive service (Mark - I think) and good food. Breakfast buffet was pretty good, but sometimes the hot options were already cold (despite being just 30 mins into service at 7.30am). The Spa was also pretty good, with the staff being pretty flexible on requirements Room was decent enough. You get what you see in the photo's. The daily clean was pretty poor - one day no towels, the next no loo roll (leaving us "out"), then no service at all. All sorted with a quick phone call, but not exactly a 5-star service. Given we had six nights at the hotel that was a 50:50 split as to whether the daily clean was actually performed and completed Room had some torn bedding which is no big deal but not exactly what you expect. Bathroom hadn't seen a deep clean in many a month with discoloured (black) spots in the grout between tiles. One has to look past that and hope it isn't mould and just dirt !! Shower was a nightmare with the fittings being too loose to hold it in position so quite a few times it dropped and the head smashed into pieces to be put together again. One time it dropped on a foot and left a pretty large bruise. Whilst "these things can happen" it would have been impossible for a cleaner not to notice this and report it to maintenance which just reinforces the view that short cuts are being taken My other observation is that there is an ongoing hustle to part you from your hard earned. We arrived ahead of check in and the room not being ready (not an issue as we knew this was to be the case). Despite being told that the hotel was full, we were offered an "upgrade" at circa £100 a night which would give us immediate availability to a room. Despite there being four of us, it was to be a room with just one bed so we naturally we passed. The guy seemed genuinely surprised and disappointed. Need a taxi - the guys out front will try steer you away from the regualar cabs parked out front to a hotel car with the benefit that they are "fixed fee" and not on the meter. That price certainty coming at a premium given our experience of using both. Want to do watersports on the beach, expect to be sat down on the sofa and surrounded by guys pushing you to buy the photos they have taken of you at todays special "discounted" rate. Our final interaction with the staff sums up the stay - at check out we were not asked the regular questions as to how the stay was, but around trying to get us into one of the hotel cars to the airport. I had "booked" a hotel car the day before - noting we were a party of four with luggage - with the concierge saying he'd book the seven seater. That wasn't done so we all squeezed and shoved things into a smaller sedan. The guy on reception was rather indignant when I told him it would be card not cash. A large sigh with an elongated silence before a sharp "fine.." Couldn't muster a token "how was the stay" but could muster his disdain that it wouldn't be cash in hand So - generally all ok, good food, nice staff but rough around the edges. No "wow" factor so would book elsewhere next time (and would question whether to chance a Fairmont next time around in other locations). I'm sure some people would love it and see past these type of flaws, but for me it fell short of expectationsMore
Myself and my partner stayed at the Fairmont for 10 nights and had a wonderful time. Upon checking in the staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful and this remained the case throughout our stay. Highlights of our stay included: - the room which was fantastic and 100% worth plumping for the ocean view. Amazing! - both the pool and beach facilities were excellent - the on-site restaurants were all superb but special mention to Boldly Asian for their wide selection of stunning food, excellent atmosphere and first class service. In particular, Toni and Senali were a credit to BA and the hotel. - the location of the hotel gave us quick and easy access to lots of different parts of Dubai, both on the Palm and on the mainland. We chose to go for half board which we would definitely recommend given the quality of food available at the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel enough and so glad we chose it!More
Great place , good quality meat especially the ribs and very nice service . Outdoor seating when weather is nice is not something anyone would want to miss Thanks to Amar , tadicus and Carl . Have been there few times already and Will definitely visit againMore
Amazing new restaurant just opened a few days ago - if you stay at the Fairmont The Palm you must eat at Al Magheeb….incredible food and so much of it, plus the service was amazing - SouKaina and Kadutar kept the food coming and were so lovely. A must visit!More
