A late review as we’ve been busy isolating since our return. 😂😂 We spent 17 days at the hotel and returned home feeling totally relaxed. Pros We booked a superior sea facing room and it was worth spending the extra money Breakfast - plenty of choice, attentive staff Housekeeping - a wonderful lady who went over and above her housekeeping duties to help us on a day my wife was feeling ill Reception - knowledgeable and friendly Security staff - respectful young men Cons Guests who continually saved sun beds from the previous night, putting towels and books when they left for the day, sometimes saving 4 sunbeds, 2 in the sun and 2 in the shade plus a table with a umbrella- not sure how you can stop these people Weekends were manic, the only time we hated using the restaurant as the children were allowed by their parents to run around and throw food around Would we return, absolutely. We look forward to the coronavirus situation resolving so we can return Thanks to all of you for a wonderful holidayRead more
The room was clean and spacious, the balcony overlooked the children's pool. Yet, the moment we closed the french windows, we couldn't hear the kids having a grand time outside! I wish I were a child again because of the pretty 'playground in the pool'. Breakfast was yummy with a huge spread. Sunday was a bit over-crowded but the staff did really well to clear the tables quickly. One small request: please have creamer or soya milk ready for guests who are lactose-intolerant. Sigi's by the beach was lovely: breezy, sandy, good food and pleasant music. The only little hitch was how far we had to park and the buggy service (thank you!) was not too frequent. Btw, there's delicious apam just a few hundred metres down the road. Turn right at the main entrance! =PRead more
My family and I decided to try this hotel out because of the good reviews. We were sadly disappointed. The staff aren’t very friendly. The food at breakfast was so so. The guy at the egg counter was so rude and unpleasant. The only friendly people at breakfast was the uncle making the roti canai and one other Indian aunty. There was a huge cockroach amongst the plates . When pointed out to the staff, their reactions was rather surprising. No one apologised. The car park is not covered. They say there is a buggy available , but many times I found my self walking after parking my car. The pool area was good and the kids had a great time . While we were at the beach , saw someone else get stung by jellyfish . There is a big sign that says beware of jellyfish. The housekeeping staff also seem new and untrained. The location is good in the sense that you can walk out and get lots of food. I’m very sure I will not be staying at this hotel again. I think it gives Shangri- La a bad name. Read more
We originally intended to stay there for a week but decided to leave after 1 night. The food at the beach bar was a huge disapointment and the muezzin before sunrise (the hotel is right next to a mosque) achieved to make up our mind for another place. One upside was the little wet playground which my daughter has enjoyed for an hour or so.Read more
The minute you step out onto your balcony and look down at the resort - WOW! beautiful grounds, and easy to just go out onto the beach to have a walk there too. The breakfast was excellent and in such a beautiful tropical setting. The staff are fabulous. And make sure you join in all the activities that are on offer. The volleyball comp every day is worth the laugh. though the water aerobics class wasn't that fabulous. Great that there is a guest laundry onsite but the tokens for this are quite expensive, Was very good that the hotel did temperature screening everytime you walked in. Great location with the night street stalls at your back door, Though it was hard to find somewhere different to eat at each night Totally will be back and next time for a longer stayRead more
