Kushiage x izakaya 🏮 I actually have never tasted kushiage while I was in Japan. That was purely because everytime I wanted to eat I always happened to have a sore throat! This place has a very nice vibe, situated on the 2nd floor with 2 separate rooms and bar seatings. The lighting is a bit dim, which creates a cosy and izakaya atmosphere. I was seated in front of the chef who was preparing the batter and bread crumb for making kushiage 😌 Thoughts on the food? 💭✅Kushiage has a very nice crunchy texture and the food was fried perfectly. Not oily at all. Delicious! 💭✅ Yakitori was very good tasty too. Unlikely some places where the skewers were burnt, these were still juicy while serving. 💭✅ Sashimi was very fresh and thanks to the waiter for recommending us to fry the bone! What a way to finish a fish from head to bone with no waste! The only thing I would like to see is to have more selection of 🍺 Besides that, I think this is a good place for catchup and worth to pay a visit!

Nice place for a deep fried skewers lover coz the kushikatsu are authentic. The lunch set comprises eggplant, rice cake, mushroom skewers and two rice balls. For people who don’t fancy fried food can choose grilled chicken set.

Very great and rare Kushikatsu bar in Hong Kong. You feels really like in any bar in Osaka here, the staff greets in very authentic Japanese. The choices of Kushikatsu are wonderful, apart from beef, pork, chicken, potato, scallop, you can even find deep fried king crab legs, Fuji apple and curry rice. Apart from Kushikatsu, the hot udon is also highly recommended. They put the whole bowl into boil with the udon noodles and yuzu skin. Very impressive!

I love kushikatsu since my first trial in Japan. So when I was back to Hong Kong I searched for place that serves kushikatsu. Jan Jan is one of the rare kushikatsu izakaya in HK. The food there never disappointed me. The cabbage is always served fresh, crunchy and sweet. I think there has only 15-20 seats so probably not suitable for a large group gathering. My personal favorite : lotus root, Fuji apple, beef, fried chicken wings, mochi

A highly reputed Osaka-originated kushikatsu restaurant. Not a big fan of deep fried food, but their choices of ingredients do surprise me and stimulate my taste buds. The dinner tonight is served in special restaurant-week menu. I especially like the starter consisting of the salty jelly, sour cucumber and fried chicken pieces. The ox tongue are thick with texture, which is one of a kind. The meal is wrapped up with a nice yuzu sorbet ice cream, which i can't be more satisfied after finishing this summer dessert.
