We visited Lee's Wok in Discovery Gardens, Dubai for a weekend lunch as we had heard a lot about it. There is quite a lot of seating. The interiors are overdone a bit, giving it a but gaudy look - they could do with a blend of colors. Here is a review of what we tasted: 1. Beverages: Lime soda - It was quite good. Virgin colada - This was a total letdown. There was no balance between the pineapple flavor and the coconut milk. 2. Starters: Tempura prawn - The outer covering was too thin and falling off when picked. The prawns were fresh and tasty. The accompanying sauce did not go well with the prawn. 3. Main course: Hakka noodles with chicken - This was a tasty and satisfying dish with a hint of chili. I enjoyed it. Kung pao chicken - It was well presented and delicious. 4. Dessert: We had the fried banana pancakes with vanilla icecream - the fried pancakes were too hard and the banana filling was mushy. The staff is polite and friendly. The ambience is quite nice but can be improved. Free and paid parking is available in the Discovery gardens area. Ordered 3 times from here now, nothing to complain about. Great menu, best green Thai curry & crispy beef ever tasted. Very reasonably priced & the portions are massive, meal lasts you for next days lunch as well. Love this place, ideal for a relaxing evening at home to go with your bottle of wine & movie night.Read more
This is a Pan Asian cuisine serving restaurant sharing its dining area with it an Indian restaurant, Gabbar's Grills, as both belong to the same owner. The Dry Chilli Chicken as a starter was really appetizing. The Chicken Sui Mai's were served piping hot and goes well with the sauces. I also loved the Mango Sticky Rice - it was warm and tasty though the mango could have been a little more riper. The service was good and the staff were friendly. And the portion sizes are big. Journey: After trying Gabbar grills we could not resist trying the Chinese options either so we were back again. Ambiance: Its a combined restaurant with two separate kitchens offering Indian and #Chinese cuisine under one roof. The restaurant is decently sized who can accommodate three to four large groups at once. Rating: 6.5 Golden Nuggets Bite Board Drinks: We had lemon mint cooler which was refreshing. Crispy Corn: If you have tried Absolute Barbecue, then this dish will definitely remind you of that. Crispy corn with spices is the perfect starter and one of their bestsellers. Chili Chicken: One of their signature dishes, which is recreated keeping in mind a famous #streetside Chinese place in Delhi. We must say it did have a different flavor from the regular indo Chinese dishes. Kudos to the chef. Chicken Wontons: Deep fried wontons served with sweet chili sauce. Nothing surprising here, but guess we aren’t fans of wontons and prefer dumplings instead. Lees Prawn Cocktail: We had a different expectation when ordering this dish but still taste wise it managed to surprise us. The chefs do a great job with the seafood dishes. Chicken Chowmein: The regular chowmein, you find everywhere. Sizzling Beef Platter: The portion is good enough for two. The only disappointment for us was the meat was chewy. Sizzling Brownie: This was a very sad version of a dessert. The brownie was not fresh, the ice-cream was way too much and even the sizzling plate served in was way too big for the portion being served. Service: This time around we were disappointed with the service, since we had to wait over twenty minutes just to have our orders taken. Cash Outflow: The pricing is decent. Location: Discovery Gardens, Dubai Circling Back: Might visit when in the area.Read more
