The Lux resort at Dhidhoofinolhu, South Ari Atoll, was the best. We enjoyed every minute on the island. The staff was friendly and very helpful everyday. And the scuba diving was amazing. They have dive spots all around the island, one spot is only ten minutes from the resort. We highly recommend Lux resort, South Ari Atoll.More
AMAZING experience! We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was the perfect romantic trip. We were first greeted from Elena who was fantastic in helping us with everything we need on the trip. She responded timely to our WhatsApp messages and was gracious throughout the whole time. We first stayed at the beach villa then moved to the romantic pool villa. We were really glad we did that because we got to experience a little bit of everything. Ali who cleaned our room at the romantic pool villa was really great. I would say that all the staff were really great!!! We got the half board since we weren’t huge eaters and drinkers and felt that was enough. I did think it didn’t make sense for us to pay $6 during dinner when we got the half board option so that would be the only thing I would say wasn’t so nice about the trip. But overall the resort was fantastic, the food was great esp East Market that looked over the water, and service was great. Thank you Lux for making this such a wonderful experience!More
We have just returned from spending 10 days at Lux South Ari Atoll. This was our first visit to this island in the Maldives and we weren't disappointed. We received a friendly welcome, and a swift check-in (including Covid 19 test) and taken to our beach villa on the east side of the island. The beach on this side is slightly less choppy and absolutely stunning and all villas lead directly on to the sand. Clear turquoise sea that is perfect for swimming, paddling, fish watching and even just enjoying the gorgeous views. Whilst the villas and some of the amenities could do with a little more upgrading and TLC, this did not impact our holiday as the staff and service made up for it. The General Manager, Patrice, was very visible and clearly customer orientated. He went out of his way to talk to us and was very helpful and wanted to make sure any worries or concerned we had were addressed. Thank you. The Veli bar staff (pool bar), were just amazing. Khan, Shaanu, Dhaminda and the rest of the team (apologies for not remembering all the names) were so attentive, friendly, helpful and always smiling. They all work tirelessly to ensure guests have what they need and as for the food and drink....top notch. We were very impressed by the standard of the meals served from a pool bar...almost al la carte standard. The bar staff at the Lagoon Bar were a little more reserved and we were disappointed one day when they didn't want to go out of their way and serve a drink six minutes after closing or allow us to take a drink away from the bar in to the reception area. We appreciate there are rules, but other bars were willing to ensure they provide the best customer service and would go out of their way to please the guests. The food was just amazing wherever we went, whether it was East Market, Senses or Mixe. We couldn't fault anything. We were treated so well and Nasser and Zahir couldn't do enough for us and Nasser even set up a special table one evening for us which as a wonderful surprise. It was also so nice to see one of the managers, Mark Anthony, regularly available and interacting with guests and he went out of his way to provide us with a recipe before we left. I can't stress how wonderful the staff around the island are. All say hello, from the gardeners to the General Manager, and Muskat, who drives one of the buggy's around the island is a credit to the team. He is super happy and never ever did we see him anything but upbeat and jolly. This was the same for Sham, one of the childcare team. We don't have children and we still felt drawn to wanting to get to know her. Her commitment to her job and her genuine love for the children was so apparent. Such a genuine and caring person. As you can probably tell from the review, the staff really did make the holiday memorable. The island is stunning, beaches are amazing and the food is truly yummy. We would recommend this resort for a visit to find out for yourselves. Thank you to everyone at Lux for making our holiday so special.More
We came for my birthday and had the most amazing time ever. Every member of staff was so helpful but esp Elena, Saju, Shouvat (I think that was his name that rode the buggy), Senthil and Daminda. The water villas are beautiful but then tbh so is everywhere you turn on the island! Can’t fault a thing.More
We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 kids (10 and 7). This was the most incredible holiday we have ever had and LUX provides a true barefoot luxury experience. From the moment you arrive you feel as though you are welcomed into a community. The staff are exceptional, the manager Patrice is extraordinary and gets to know the guests personally, he even organised a soccer ball for my 10 year old to play on the soccer pitch with staff. The food is the best I have ever experienced at any hotel and they have an in house coffee shop which was superb. The whole vibe is laid back luxury. We were in a family beach villa. One side of the island is definitely better than the other from a wind perspective, so if you have a family and want to utilise your water front be sure to get the villas on the Eastern Side. The room is simple but has everything you need, the best and the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. You can hire bikes and we did this so we could ride everywhere. I am a nervous traveller with two asthmatic children, and our daughter has a severe dustmite and cashew allergy. I communicated this and from the moment we arrived it was known and accommodated for. The staff working in the kids room knew and informed me of all the measures they had taken and would take. This was the first and only place she has not had a major episode. From a Covid perspective we felt extremely safe. You do a test before you arrive in Male, then again in Male before you board the seaplane for LUX. This is an extra precaution the resort talks, but it allows for confidence and knowing the kids can run free and bike ride without masks, it was truly a blessing. There are so many restaurants, that all provide different food and unlike other places, despite our 10 night stay we still felt like there was more to try. We were very busy on the holiday, we had the best water sports experience with Musa and Ali on the snorkelling tour. They were amazing with our kids, talking them up close to whale sharks and teaching them about the ocean life. After the 18 months we saw our children’s confidence grow thanks to these men which was something we will always be thankful for. Inthi was our butler and these people make things happen. We forgot our Go Pro cover and he was amazing and organised one from Male. Basically anything you need, ask you shall receive. But not just receive, there seems genuine delight in helping. Our kids did most of the paid kids club activities, the only thing I’d say about the kids club is it’s probably geared more for younger kids. This was fine for us because we wanted family time, but we have been to other 5 star resorts where there are more tween type activities organised. If you can I’d recommend a longer stay as there is so much on over the week, from white parities, to DJ’s, Maldivian nights and outdoor cinema for the kids. It’s amazing. The Thai chef at East Market - Pong was just a delight, in the morning anything you want prepared for the afternoon he would make it happen and again with a huge smile. Overall, we didn’t want to leave. This was the most beautiful holiday for our family of four. It is a relaxed causal vibe, where you can immerse yourself in island life in a healthy, active yet relaxing way. We can’t wait for the next trip. Thank you to all the staff that helped us and to Patrice, see you soon. The Buckley FamilyMore
