First time in here whilst visiting Son in Newcastle This bar is on the river overlooking The Sage on the opposite side of the river and the Tyne Bridge Inside lovely with classy lighting All the chairs were mainly high stools and chairs and the fire was on which looked nice but sat next to the radiator and sat opposite the fire it was far too hot Nice drinks menu and nice staff We didn’t eat in the restaurant just came in for drinksRead more
19 of us, friends and family to celebrate my son’s 21st Birthday. The atmosphere, food and service were all fantastic. Thank you Sabatinis ... and next time I will order the Pig in advance! Read more
This place is pretty much a Newcastle institution, and it's easy to see why. Firstly the decor is nicely modern, with no tacky chintz. Our waitress was brilliant, and we tucked into bowls of fresh bread and bottles of beer as we chose our food. I opted for the tortino di patate e pecorino to start, but I'll be honest it was slightly underwhelming. However my main course of zuppa di pesce al sarda more than made up for it, a selection of fish in a very tasty broth, with bread to mop up the remnants. Read more
There are those Italian restaurants that provide the standard and unsurprising fare ... and then there's Sabatini - restaurant I will relish visiting time and time again. First indications that you're in for a treat are when you read the menu - so many authentic dishes that you've never heard of. I decided that my 3 courses would each be selected from dishes I'd never had before with taste combinations that I wouldn't normally go for. My decision led to one of the best meals I've had anywhere. My starter was a combination of bread, potato and cheese, which I would guess is closely related to dauphinoise. It was simple and I was delicious. My main course was fine linguini egg pasta with a prawn and crab cream sauce. Again, simple, authentic and delicious. I couldn't resist desert and had fried pastry with cheese, honey and lemon juice - a wonderful and complementary combination. My wife and friend were also suitably impressed with their choices. I can't urge you strongly enough to visit this restaurant and please, when you do, go off- piste; try something new.Read more
