Shang Palace - Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi

The restaurant has great ambience. Service and staff were great too. I'm vegetarian and allergic to Gluten. I loved that they have a wide variety for people with allergies. I ordered mushroom soup and tofu pot. The soup was very standard, nothing special about it, but that tofu pot was really good.

SUMMARY: Great food, unbelievably slow service Its difficult for me to give 3 stars. I usually love it or hate it. But here the food was good (4.5 stars) but the service was SO SLOW that Im tempted to give a 1 or 2 star rating. I believe it was the chef's fault from some of the staff interactions. The restaurant and outdoors was less than half filled. We would get a small tasty delicious dim sum plate and split it between the 6 of us then wait for 10-15 minutes for the next one, and this repeated 12 times or so even after complaints. The amazing food was not so fun when they take forever. They also brought dessert out in the middle of the meal even after we explicitly asked for this not to happen. The staff was friendly, but the EXTREMELY SLOW SERVICE made this a bad option. I would not recommend this until the service is fixed. Food review: The shrimp fried dumplings were spectacular. The beef noodle soup was great. On occasion the dumplings were over-steamed, but this is the exception rather than the rule.The BBQ chicken buns could use more chicken, but they were still one of my favorites.

Shan Palace is by far the best and only place in Abu Dhabi that offers a glimpse into what real Chinese fine dining is all about. The ambiance is wow, gold coloured carpets, wood panelled walls with traditional red lanterns and fans on the wall with Chinese motifs everywhere give it that intimate Chinese dining room feel. The food is excellent, we were over last week to try their new Shang Supper Club series and were absolutely delighted with the food. It's a four-course set menu that changes every day, three appetizers, a soup, four mains and a dessert. We loved the spring rolls, the clay pot beef short ribs and the Hong Kong style chicken. It's a must-try place, great for special occasions.

Couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Awesome view of Sheikh Zayed Mosque, sumptuous dim sum lunch at Shang palace. A must visit for lunch when in Abu Dhabi. And the price is just amazing for so much all you can eat.

Authentic Chinese. I loved the dim sums and I was pleasantly surprised how colourful they were. Sadly it was very hard to get a reservation here again, especially for the lunch dim sums. The braised aubergine was great as well.
