Maybe our visit was spoiled with nostalgic memories of Sho Cho’s in Abu Dhabi which was a favourite spot of ours. The venue does overlook water but it’s part of a beach at a hotel which seems to have seen better days. The restaurant itself is also dated and in need of a refurb. Arrived at 8.45pm and they were 15 minutes of Happy Hour left but we were not informed there was a happy hour. Strike 1. We were asked what we would like to drink but not given a menu to choose from … Strike 2. Ordered a Mai tai cocktail and was presented with a cocktail of mainly syrup and fruit juice. Strike 3. We ordered the salmon tataki, prawn spring rolls and prawn gyoza to start. The tataki was particularly good & the spring rolls good too. The prawn gyoza were unmemorable apart from the hard edges. Mains were the black cod and a calamari salad. We were told the black cod would take approx 25 minutes to prepare… that’s got to be a record. The black cod was good as expected. Can’t really mess up black cod. The calamari salad was uneventful and again disappointing. Too many negatives to come back. A DJ was apparently supposed to start playing music from 10pm but when we left at 10.15pm they hadn’t yet arrived. Couldn’t wait to leave.More
Shocho is a restaurant that I really enjoyed visiting, in it you will find a pleasant atmosphere with a view of the sea, good music and beautiful people. The menu has a huge variety and the dishes are delicious, the combination of ingredients makes the flavors unforgettable, the presentation of the dishes is perfect. The restaurant has dear and helpful staff, I recommend it and I will be back soon!More
Visited solo for 9pm dinner on a Saturday night. Arrived to find that I was one of only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant. The tables were almost entirely in darkness and the dance music deafeningly loud. Service was charming and attentive. Drinks priced at normal for Dubai but the sushi portions were disappointingly small. At £30 for a mix of sushi and sashimi I was disappoint on only get 4 small pieces of nigiri, 6 v small maki rolls and 6 pieces of sashimi. I took my time and read a book and by the time I left at 10:30 it had filled up somewhat but both the restaurant and lounge area were both less than half full. Left wishing I’d gone to La Mer next door but such is life I suppose.More
Great Japanese restaurant near the sea. You can enjoy amazing fresh food with the sea view! A lot of options food even for vegetarian and of course pescatarian: we tried edamame, salads, miso soup, fish, lobster, nasu miso, tacos. Yuzu raspberry cheesecake was super tasty! Thank you so much, Victor! With you our food was even better! 🙏🏻☺️More
It's great to see that a long standing night spot in Dubai can maintain standards. The food is great and the staff is very helpful. Alfresco setting with great views. The DJ plays great tunes and is accompanied by a saxophone player. We can't wait until the authorities allow the reopening of the dance floor.More
