Slim's

Slims is a skinny little bar on Wing Fung St. and Queen's Road East in Wanchai. It is part of the El Grande Restaurant Group and can be a fun place to visit for a drink or two. Opening hours are 11am to midnight daily. Beer list is rather extensive with perhaps 50 different beer varieties. Most are bottled but they have a couple draught beers as well. Prices at Slims are reasonable for bars in Wanchai. Inside, as the name of the bar indicates, you find a long and very narrow seating area with wall seats facing an open bar and small food preparation area. There is a single big screen tellie at the far end of the seating area. During a recent visit we had a Lindeman's peach and Fuller Black Cab Stout both of which were fine. Drinks are served with a basket of roasted peanuts. They have a fairly typical sports bar food menu. We haven't eaten at Slim's in a few years but have had decent burgers here and pretty good nachos in the past.

A lunch place for me with consistently good food. Daily curry is a bit spicy, more Indian style like . Roasted herb half chicken sold out fast. The fried are made good. Staff are nice. “Slim” refers to the interior of the restaurant. You will find your tummy full and satisfied after having your meal here.

The food is good here and so is the beer. Staff is attentive and service usually fast. They show cricket on the TVs, for those who are interested. I'm just not a fan of the "slim" bar setup which means you constantly are squeezing by people to get to the toilet or door for a smoke.

Always like coming here for a drink. Free peanuts ... Always end up eating too much. The best part is you can just shove the shells on the floor !
