My son thought that the Sofitel was a dream so I had to pinch him to prove that it wasn’t. It may not be the best located or with the most varied attractions but it’s tough to argue that this is a great place to stay. The staff are so friendly, helpful and everywhere you turn and do their utmost to make your stay as good as it can be. We went half board and although we had a choice of four places to eat in the evening we always ended up at the Porter House where the steaks were as exquisite as the staff were attentive. If you want a slice of luxury then this is the place for you.Read more
We stayed at the Sofitel Palm for 11 nights in October. It is a beautiful hotel. We were worried it would be suitable for a 3 year old but there are 7 different pools, including 2 kids pools (one with a beach) 2 water slides, a water fountain, play area - it has it's own beach and a kids club - which we didnt use or need. The restaurants have their own kids menu and will even cater for meal requirements off the menu. We went to the chinese restaurant and our son would not have eaten off the kids menu in there but they were more than happy to prepare him something he required. The employees at this hotel are incredible - nothing is a problem for them and they are all very good with children and would engage with our son all the time. The guys around the pool were all very helpful, a guy called Burjumia in particular was very kind and always went the extra mile to help and make sure our stay was very pleasant. There is a shuttle bus which runs regularly through the day to Dubai Mall where we went to see the Burj Khalifa and to the Emirates Mall which is free - def worth using as taxi's into Dubai central are about 80 dhirams. They get full very quickly though so arriving early is important to get a seat. Our rooms were beautiful, clean, modern, well looked after. Pretty immaculate hotel but then it is quite pricey and not a lot is complementary. There is an on site shop which is well stocked which is handy given there are no shops etc nearby, but again quite pricey. But you must expect that if you are booking here. Facilities at the hotel were all exceptional. Food incredible - other than things being pricey, no complaints at all and would definitely recommend.Read more
Let me preface my review in that I am comparing the experience to my expectation in that the property 1. Is a Sofitel 2. In Dubai 3. On the Palm 4. Expensive. Overall it was an average experience for us. Bottom line up front: no advantage as an Accor Member - a nice property, but for the relatively same price, especially with a family, it's worth looking at the Atlantis right next door (park tickets included and easy monorail access to the city). I'm not sure I would stay here at the Sofitel again exclusively, would look at a competitor if I came back to the Palm. If you look at my review history, we are extremely loyal to Accor, so this is a very rare recommendation to my fellow travelers to at least check some other options if you are looking to spend your time and money on the Palm in Dubai. Check In: the process is very time consuming compared to other hotels I have stayed at in the area. It took around 20 minutes for the initial check in, and an additional 40 minutes once our final room was ready to make the paperwork changes. While we appreciate the Member benefit of an early check in, it turned out to be very inconvenient due to the tremendous amount of time spent at reception checking in and then re-checking in to the new room. The front desk needs some organization assistance. Upgrade: even for Accor Members, this facility charges an upgrade. The cost is also the same as the retail price of the room, so no advantage as an Accor member. I did pay for an upgrade but in the end the extra cost was no different if we had booked a larger room up front. Just something to consider if you are an Accor member. Members Lounge: there is a lounge for Platinum members (or if you booked the club level room). The upcharge is 500 durhams per person to use the lounge as a Gold member. Maui Restaurant: We had dinner the first night, total price around 400 AED for two sandwiches, 2 beers, and pasta for a child. About what you would expect for pricing at a resort like this. Food was ok - nothing great but fine for pool side bar food. The service was very very slow. It took about 40 minutes to receive our order and with a young child, patience expires quickly. Not a good place if you are in a hurry or looking for a quick bite to eat. However the sea side location was quite nice during the sunset. Manava: breakfast buffet was fantastic and lived up to the expectation based on past experiences with the Sofitel. It was definitely worth the time and cost, highly recommend it. Wi-fi: the Wi-if was weak in our room, but IT will bring you a separate router to enhance the signal which is a good tip to keep in mind if you have the same trouble. The room: fantastic and what you would expect at a Sofitel. Very well done, I am always impressed with the details of the rooms. The resort: the property is very well laid out, beautiful facilities, and a very nice ambience overall. The photos from the website give a very accurate representation of the property. Check out: equally time consuming and inconvenient. It just seems very disorganized at the desk during peak times. I set my timer out of curiosity and it was a total of 14 minutes and 52 seconds to check out. Sure a bit picky of me to put it on a timer but I wanted to see the reality. Not the end of the world but tricky with an impatient child in tow. Plan ahead for the check in/ check out experience. Overall a wonderful facility, but the experience was missing some key elements compared to my expectations of a Sofitel in this prestigious location. I always always default to Accor when planning my business and personal travel. This is the first time in several years that I would consider anything besides Accor on my next family vacation. The staff is trying hard but needs some help to get organized to deliver an efficient experience worthy of the brand. Read more
We stayed 4 days at the Sofitel (Palm). We had a huge apartment with 2 bedrooms and kitchen. The great things about our stay: - very relaxing atmosphere with many small pools around. At times we had them just to ourselves - great kids club which the little ones really enjoyed - there was a mini market on site with all the basics so we ended up actually eating in our apartment more than expected - it was nice you were not being sold something all the time - the kids menu is fantastic (and huge so expect leftovers for the parents) - the mini bus to the Mall of Emirates was a great extra even though taxis are easy to use in Dubai - the beds were very comfortable and we are actually thinking of getting their supersized duvets :) What not to expect: - evening entertainment - cool bars Improvements: - do no forget your guests at the airport. We wanted to be safe and ordered a pick up at the airport. Was a no show. Not a great start at 2.30am... Taxis are great and safe (no tricks) so it was ok in the end. Read more
The hotel situated on the palm, next to Atlantis hotel. Free shuttle bus takes and uplifts to the malls, calling at Atlantis if you wish to visit the water park. We had a luxury room overlooking the corniche. Excellent facilities within room, which was cleaned each day. Five main restaurants within hotel, three providing waiter service and two others buffet meals. Other restaurants and bars beside the pools and beach. We had half board with the set menus. The meals were excellent in choices provided and quality. Breakfast was a buffet type, with fresh eggs cooked to order. All staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough to ensure the stay was relaxed. My wife utilised the spa, including a treatment for less than £50. I cannot praise the staff/restaurants enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for couples or families, with the children provided for with a children’s club and child menus at all restaurants. I would definitely use this hotel again on any return trips to Dubai.Read more
