I have just returned from The Brasserie in Tokai. Unfortunately, one of the worst meals my wife and I have ever had. They have apparently discontinued their Pork Belly and I highly recommend they discontinue their Pork Cutlet as well. We eat out fairly regularly and I would say 99% of the time we really enjoy the places we go to. We are certainly not fussy people. Unfortunately, this has to rank as the worst main meal I have ever eaten. Pork, Butternut, Sage and Mangetout all sound great in theory but not once the chef at The Brasserie was through with them. A really poor plate of food! There were a couple of good points. My eldest son had the Lasagne, very tasty and my youngest son had plain spaghetti which he also enjoyed. To sum it up I feel hurt to have paid what we did for what we got.Read more
Butternut ravioli was swimming in butter and consequently too oily Sunday roast - meat was tough and vegetables (2 of them) average Read more
This place used to be great but the food and service have gone downhill... My veggie burger was burnt, and the roll was stale, half an avo was just dumped on top, no relish or trimmings. My wife had potato skins and they were soggy with oil and inedible. We had takeaway as it took so long but ended up throwing most of it away... Also had the salt and pepper squid starter, but it was actually just very average battered and fried calamari, no twist or anything interesting about it. My wife's ceasar salad was covered in average mayonnaise, came with loads croutons, after specifically asking for them to be left off. And when we tried to talk to the manager he was aggressive with us. Read more
Love this place and returning from the UK after a 2 year absence it was still as good. If you like a traditional Sunday roast this one is not to be missed.Read more
Salt and pepper squid heads (deep fried), the perfect starter to share if you are not too hungry with your first glass of wine. Mains - fillet steak, salad, chips and tastiest spinach in the world. Meet was served bleu to perfection. The venue itself is warm, cozy. Beautiful bar for pre drinks. I would recommend this as a great dining venue, for friends, family or a romantic first date. Also, thank you to our lovely waitress for superb service! Read more
