Interesting museum in the prison of the Palace of Winchester. View the cells where prisoners were tortured for their crimes or religion. Many Instruments of torture are on display , with thumb screws and shackles to experience. Or sit in the stocks. Read about the barbaric punishment of the days past. Well laid out museum with interesting information sheets on display. A half term visit enjoyed by teenage grandchildren.Read more
This is a small museum, taking 45mins to go through highlighting the history of the local prison and the tortures endured around 12th - 14th century. Gorey and gruesome facts presented well, you can pick up all of the items to get a feeling of what it would be like to be in prison here. Travelling by train, we took advantage of 2-4-1 offer, so price good for us.Read more

This is definitely worth visiting. It is small but packed with information and various instruments of torture! The best bit though is the photo opportunity at the end - we all loved that bit. Read more
