This was my third visit to the Danna and I will keep going back! Both with my husband and friends, we have had amazing visits. The service is impeccable! The whole team makes you feel like you are on holiday - really on holiday - and really well looked after for your whole visit. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the bubbly breakfast is a great way to start your holiday. The rooms are large, with beautiful bathrooms. We went for an anniversary and were treated to a lovely surprise in our room too!Read more
We very carefully research all of our holidays and having visited Malaysia last year and looking to return, Langkawi came up in conversation with a colleague. After a brief search we found The Danna and read the reviews thinking nowhere could be consistently that good. Let me assure you it is! The staff from collecting us at the airport, throughout the holiday and to taking us back to the airport were excellent. I cannot stress this enough. Our room although not the most expensive was in every way excellent, large and comfortable, tastefully decorated, with a huge balcony with a day bed. The guest facilities are first rate from restaurant to the pool and beyond to the beach. The pool was fabulous - large, clean, calm, and different levels. The pool staff were again fabulous as were the cocktails in happy hour. The highlight though for us was the beach walking and the restaurants. Planters served breakfast and dinner, both of which had an excellent choice. I’d go as far as to say the best hotel restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. The Terrace is contemporary and again has fantastic Italian food and we had a great valentines meal there. We did a number of activities with the hotel including the cable car (a must on a clear day), the geo park mangrove boat tour (another must for the wildlife and knowledgeable guide), and the cookery class (excellent chef, great food and recipes, and you get to eat what you cook, in private dining). In summary I would go back in a heart beat and we were sad to end our holiday, returning to the rain swept UK tomorrow. Read more
Totally pampered from the neck massage on arrival, attentive, friendly and helpful staff, very spacious room, sparkling wine included with buffet breakfast, a range of cafe and restaurants with expansive menu choices, huge pool (though hard to get sunbeds in the shade when very busy) and some odd changes in depth with sharp edges but stunning relaxing outlook. Not near anything else so quite isolated, however we came for a relaxing getaway and that's exactly what we enjoyed. Plus a fun cooking class.Read more
This hotel is simply amazing. The facilities and design are beyond beautiful. The breakfast at the Planters was incredible. What makes this place very special amongst other 5* in the region is it's amazing Staff. Thank you. Definitely recommended and we would come back. The only request to this amazing hotel is to be more eco friendly. At a time when people are becoming more conscious of what they can do to minimize their environmental impact, hotels should respond by rethinking their long-standing reliance on single-use plastic. Glass water bottles with filtered water and refills for toiletries are a must to preserve the beautiful nature in Langkawi.Read more
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a week. It has a wonderful colonial style building. The food was amazing! We are vegetarians and while there was reasonable choice of food, the chefs were eager to make a special dish when requested. The staff were all happy to help with a smile! Invariably they did things for us beyond the call of duty! It was a wonderful place and I would make it a destination of choice when next in Langkawi!Read more
