We had a 3 day and 2 nights stay at Sankara Resort as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations i.e from Jan 25-27. I booked a Private Pool Villa (Darma Villa) and the villa is gorgeous with spacious bedroom and a private pool. What makes this resort amazing is their staff who try their best to provide an excellent service right from the reception to the attendants everyone took great care of us and they always great you with a smiling face. One more highlight of the resort is its amazing food, you will be spoilt for choice and the food is super delicious at Sankara.Balinese are one of the humble and nicest people that i have ever met and they are always with a smiling face. I want to highlight few people who made our stay memorable, Gede (Called as Good Day) our personal driver from Sankara Resort is the most genuine and humble person i have ever met. If there is an award like the best driver in the world Gede can be unanimously awarded as the best driver in the world he is such a gem of a person and i strongly recommend Gede as your driver if you visit Sankara resort. What makes Gede apart from other drivers in Bali is his patience also his vast knowledge on Bali and its places is commendable, he took us to some of the amazing places in ubud which wouldn't be possible if we had traveled solo. We really miss Gede and his service. Also Ngurah from the reception is one more guy who made our stay extra special by arranging the Candle light dinner for our Anniversary. Want to highlight the exceptional service from Ngurah, on the day of our checkout i forgot my watch in our villa and i moved to a different hotel to explore other places in Bali. Ngurah was so kind that he immediately called me once he noticed that i forgot my watch and he took all his efforts to reach out to my other hotel to hand over the watch to me in person. I have never seen such a genuine service from any other hotels that i have stayed so far. Gusti Vaundra the front office Manager is one more nicest person i have met at Sankara who made sure that we are comfortable with our stay at Sankara and he was always there if we needed any assistance. Overall my stay at Sankara was a memorable one, wish i had stayed for some more days and i will be definitely returning back to Sankara during my next Bali trip and i cant wait to come back again.Read more
My mum and I stayed at this resort for 6 nights. Overall I would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a spot close to Ubud center, that is tucked away in a quiet area, away from hustle and bustle. The best thing about the Sankara is the service. Absolutely every single person was always smiling and greeting us warmly at all times during our stay. Every single time we asked for anything, had a question, or a special request, the staff did whatever they could to accommodate us. The other thing I really liked was that the resort attracted a diverse variety of guests. We saw couples, families, groups of friends from all parts of the world and there was no one group that dominated. Because the resort is so small, you generally only bump into other guests at breakfast. We went to Nusa Dua one day and seeing the sheer size of the hotels on the beach there was such a stark contrast. Sankara felt like a tiny quiet oasis in comparison. We stayed our first 4 nights in the deluxe room. I would highly recommend these rooms. When I was booking the vacation I thought the rooms would be located altogether in one building like in a regular hotel. In reality the rooms are located in 2 storey houses that are very much like villas themselves! We had the bottom storey so it really felt like we were coming back to our own villa each evening. The rooms are private and huge in size. The bathrooms in particular are enormous! Great value for money in my opinion. Since we were staying so long, I decided to check if we could upgrade to a pool villa for our last 2 nights in the resort. Vaundra, the manager at the resort, was super helpful in quickly checking availability, arranging for us to even see the villa first before we made our decision, and giving us a good price on the upgrade. If you are leaning towards booking a pool villa at the Sankara - please go for it. I thought value for money was excellent because the actual pool in the villa is ENORMOUS. It isn't a small plunge pool that you commonly find at hotel villas, it's a proper pool that you can actually swim several laps in!! The villa is huge and even comes with an outdoor sofa seating area and an outdoor kitchen. Absolutely blissful and we didn't feel like leaving our villa at all! (Also, the hotel pool is not very big so if you prefer privacy and want to enjoy a pool, this is a better option for you.) Other pros: - The complimentary hotel shuttle to and from Ubud center was extremely useful - we ended up basing our day's sight-seeing plan on the back of the shuttle schedule. The shuttle is also super useful if you want to go into town for dinner. The hotel only has one restaurant and Ubud Center has an abundance of choices - The hotel restaurant has a decent range of options for vegetarians which we appreciated - There is a number of restaurants just walking distance on the road just outside the resort, but we kept forgetting about them - think they're worth checking outRead more
We spent 5 days at the Sankara Resort, Ubud, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The clean and comfortable room and resort, the excellent breakfast and food served, the yoga session every morning and most important, the attentive, friendly and authentic staff altogether made our stay so wonderful! Special thanks to the Office Manager, Vaundra, who has gone out of his way to make our stay at this resort so memorable!Read more
The Resort was private, wish I had a few more days to stay there! It was a little out of the way, but shuttles are available to Ubud Central, and you can arrange with them pick-up for a fee. I felt having breakfast at the restaurant was much better than having it in my Villa, you would be able to request for extra water etc. On the first day there, there were problems with our toilet door and we had to wait for about an hour before it was resolved. While it was an inconvenience, staff were very apologetic and did their best to make sure it was fixed ASAP. Their friendliness and helpfulness - you will never forget! (: beautiful resort!Read more
We had a 5 day and 4 night stay at Sankara. The staff were absolutely wonderful and always so quick to fulfill any requests that we had. The breakfast was delicious and we really enjoy their fresh ginger and lemongrass tea. The room was comfortable and clean. I visited Radha Spa on two occasions, once for a coconut body treatment with massage and second for a foot massage. Both visits were very relaxing and pleasant. I highly recommend Sankara! Read more
