My family and I had a 4 night stay at The Wilderness Hotel last week. Our stay was really amazing. Beforehand I called to inform them that the day we arrive will be my husband's birthday. When we arrived, were welcomed by very friendly reception staff. Two lovely ladies. We got to the route and it looked much larger than the one we booked(an upgrade surprise) with a bottle of champagne on ice and a bowl of strawberries and sweet pastries as a treat for my husband birthday which was amazing and such a beautiful gesture. Our room had a king size bed, large walk in shower with a seperate luxurious large bath tub. Our room was spacious, with table and 2 chairs. We also had a lovely private courtyard with a view of the lake. (Room 111) Breakfast was delicious with a variety of foods: eggs, bacon, various breads, sausage, hashbrown, beans, fish cakes, spinach, livers, grilled tomatoes, various pastries, waffles with a selection of toppings, cereals, fruit, selection of yoghurt, selection of cheese, cold meats, selection of jams juices and hot beverages. Truly a spread of goodness One waitress in particular stood out, Mercia, she was amazing, went out of her way to assist us at dinner and breakfast. So friendly, kind and professional. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and it's fun for families with kids: pool, park, tennis, squash, putt putt, table tennis, chess In the evening we enjoyed sitting upstairs in the lounge area Infront of the fireplace. Lovely hotel🤩this was our second experience at this hotelMore
Great hotel, room did not deliver what it promised. When 4 adults are booked into a "Luxury Family Suite" (room 132) only 2 people enjoy any sort of luxury, the other 2 are grossly disadvantages in comparison. The second bedroom, clearly intended for children had no view (looked into a dingy court yard), had no safe, no hairdryer and the small shower / toilet room had no furnishings whatsoever where one could store toiletries. No attempt was made to offer alternative accommodation when I complained.......................................More
Nicely styled room , good breakfast & tea & coffee making facilities. If you enjoy walking there are numerous walks you can take in the surrounding area, depending on were you walk you may need to purchase a pass. There is an area a few minutes walk from the hotel were there are several restaurants & shopsMore
Apple = Applejorgia2 Wilderness hotel resort and spa, stayed for 2 nights in March2020 very disappointed. The facade is not to bad although parking is limited, however from my lack lustre greeting by the receptionist (who was chewing gum) not a good start shown to our river-view suite which turned out to be a family room divided into 2 by wooden sliding doors which made the room dark, (requested a room change the only room on offer had a 7ft wall outside and was the same as our room only darker). The interior is very dated, with threadbare carpets on stairs leading to our room, the dinning room ceiling is very dirty, the pool area gardens are pretty and well kept, however he poolside furniture has definitely seen better days, they consist of white plastic stacking chairs last seen in the 1980's and need a good clean the green plastic tables are broken by the parasols slot, the sunbeds again retro white plastic (dirty) the cushions should be removed and burnt immediately beyond dirty green algae in the folds. Very old decor throughout the hotel lots of dark wood. Will not be staying here again or recommending locally known as the old lady step inside and you know why. The area itself is stunning with lots of modern fresh clean looking B&B's and guest houses. The village area has many lovely bars and restaurantsMore
The hotel is so dirty. The restaurant areas and bedrooms are all in need of a deep clean and total refurbishment. We inspected our mattress and pillows and they were all stained with body fluids!! The management did move us to another room but I would not recommend staying at this hotel. If you do, check your room over thoroughly before you sleep in the bed!!!More
