We had previously excellent experiences with Trader Vic's at the Crowne Plaza and the Madinat. This one was somewhat a disappointment. Food was okay-ish. Service was horrible. To try and get the attention of a waiter five or six times during a dinner is just embarassing. These guys have no situational awareness or they deliberatly ignore customers unless they are standing right in front of them screaming. If you crave Trader Vics food, go to the Crowne Plaza hotel and ask for a table as far away from the band as possible. Second best is at the Madinat.Read more
We came here because we'd eaten at Trader Vics on Park Lane in London over 10 years ago, long before we were married. We have great memories of supping cocktails from a birdbath. The place was packed and the atmosphere superb. This place had everything going for it. The decor, the cocktails and the food was good too. I had the spicy red snapper, which was quite a portion. Rachael had the the steamed sea bass. She couldn't speak highly enough of it The service was very good. But the restaurant was almost empty. We had the place to ourselves, except one lonely chap on another table. The bar was were everyone was, we found this after eating. There was a bar menu there and it seemed that's where everyone was choosing to eat. And the bar menu looked good too Next time we'll ask to be seated in the bar and suss out if it's worth moving into the restaurant to eat or not Read more
Well once you find the entrance to this restaurant you will not be disapointed. Its the largest of the Trader Vic's in Dubai and certainly the best regarding decor. Its just fantastic inside and has a large open terrace outside which is OK but does not compare with the interior. Food is well know to all who are reading this but must mention a couple of new things on the menu which were just excellent. Try the crispy wok stir fried Red Snapper, just wonderful and the gineger scollops. Both great dishes and good portion sizes. Prices 135 and 120 dhs each. happy hour is 18.00 to 20.00hrs with orders accepted for drinks to be served later if ordered during happy hours. If tghis is going to be your first vist phone them for direction to the entrance otherwise its almost impossible to find but a quick guide is to go to M&S cafe. Go down what looks like a dead end road and on your right hand side you will see a small red block which if fact is a walled entrance to the lifts to enter the place. 2nd floor on the lift takes you straight into the restaurant.Read more
