I would really have liked to give this at least 4.5 stars. The staff were lovely, the location excellent, the food good and the sundowners on the terrace overlooking the beach were reason to visit all on their own. However, whilst we were there the hotel used the patch of grass next door to the pool for a variety of events. One seemed to be a sales conference, another was some sort of team building event plus yet another of indederminate charater. Each involved extremely loud people and plenty of cheering etc. We had gone on holiday precisely to get away from anything "work" related and there was absolutely no getting away from the noise - even on the private beach below we could hear what was going on. Very sadly, for this reason, I absolutely wouldn't use this hotel again which is a great shame as otherwise I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.Read more
The booking looked like it was going wrong due to a mix up with two hotels with similar names in Oman. But Cancellon support sorted it all out, including I believe paying a considerable amount from their own account to rectify the error and secure the booking. They were always polite and efficient and surprisingly easy to contact by phone or from Oman via the website chat.Read more
Stayed for three nights as a family of three. Booked a city view room for a change and was pleasantly surprised, Muscat is stunning. Try and get a higher up floor though or you would have more of a car park view than city. We had an almost fantastic stay, staff were welcoming and friendly, breakfast was lovely and the pool exceptional. The beach was almost perfect, my son and I picked up a few bits of broken glass, but they had clearly been brought in by the tide so hard to control those things, maybe someone checking the beach occasionally would be helpful. We only found one fault during our entire stay, our stay fell over a Friday and as with many hotels across the Middle East that means brunch. Living in Dubai we are accustomed to brunch and have done our fair share, but most don’t allow pool access. We’d spent the day out exploring and returned about 3.30pm to find the pool overrun. There were no loungers for the guests and it took us talking to four staff before anyone could find us any. Then the top pool was closed, we were advised by a member of staff because someone had dropped a glass in it. We gave up, and retreated to the room, there is nothing worse than a bunch of drunk people in a swimming pool. When we came down to head out for dinner there was a party of four people stood just outside the hotel entrance shouting and screaming at each other, the language was disgusting and I would have rather my son hadn’t had to listen to it as we had to get past them. Free flowing alcohol is not always a good thing! Unfortunately I wouldn’t book here again if we stayed over a Friday because of this. Muscat is amazing though, such a lovely city!!Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights for relaxation following a busy trip to watch our daughter race in the Ironman 70.3 in Muscat. We had a standard room which was fairly small but comfortable but no seaview but we didn't really want to pay extra as it's rather expensive anyway. The hotel is very clean and has two lovely pools with plenty of sunbeds/shades. The private beach area is accessible via some steep steps and very pleasant but has no facilities so you have to go back to the pool area for drink/food or the toilet. The water is safe to swim and perfect for youg children although by midday the tide goes out a long way so for children to play in the water later in the day you wouldn't be able to watch them from your sunbed. The hotel has 4 restaurants and a bar and we had lunch in Duke's Bar when we arrived and twice in the pool cafe which was very good and then becomes The Edge restaurant in the evening where we had 2 lovely dinners. We also had dinner in the Persian restaurant Shiraz which was also very nice. I booked the hotel directly online before our trip and at the time joined the IHG Rewards Club as it was free to join and gave a better rate. I was extremely pleased to find that this allowed a discount in the restaurants for food which I hadn't realised until checking out as we had put our restaurant bills on our room. If we had paid cash for our meals then I wouldn't have known about this but I imagine if I'd quoted the membership number a discount would have also been applied. We used the hotel's free shuttle service for the Mutrah souq which went at 4pm and allowed enough time to visit the souq and walk along the Corniche.Read more
