We had an amazing time at this huge, wonderful property. my kids simply didnt want to leave. It was a breeze getting here from Colombo by the highway, instead of some of the usual winding roads in the rest of Sri Lanka. Rooms are lovely and spacious, and the resort grounds are just lovely. there were the occasional 5 second blackouts when transitioning to generator power due to the ongoing situation in the country, but nothing to be alarmed about and the staff are always watchful to assist. It's perfect for families with young children for many reasons - the indoor kids' club, kids pool with water slides, daily activities schedule, kids' section at the buffet, even special requests can be made and attended to easily, exposure to nature due to some of the resident wildlife in the resort. Highly highly recommended for families travelling with young children!More
Me and my family , we are in love with this beautiful resort. During my final visit I met Manager Tyron, A friendly, helpful gentleman. Also can’t forget Chef Kasun’s Pasta 🍝 and Chef Shammi’s Japanese food. His Tempura Prawns 🍤 are lovely with a beer 🍺 or a glass of wine 🍷!! Alwis , Senaka , Gayan from restaurant were always helpful! Kamil & Luke from the Proshop are true service champions. Special thanks to Kamil!! Whoever visit this place must try the Golf-buggy ride and see the beautiful golf course!More
We stayed here for a week over Easter with two young kids ( 5 and 9) and were hugely impressed - it was amazing for kids, so much to do and they were in heaven ! The pool is a kids delight with water slides, fountains etc and then there are the chess sets, the kids club, the trapeze ( huge shout out to the whole team there - our 5 yr old was obsessed and they indulged his daily trips and were so good with him !) There is also an adults pool which was lovely (altho I think a few kids are allowed if teens as we had some definite "non adults" there but didnt bother us inthe slightest as they were all very well behaved) The beach is SPECTACULAR and I thoroughly enjoyed peaceful morning runs along it and was never bothered by a soul... you literally had the place to yourself, felt super remote and private. The food was grt, amazing buffet for breakfast and dinner but we also enjoyed the asian restuarant a few nights which had the most delicious menu The team could not do enough to help - we had a slight issue one day (noones fault) when they needed to do some repairs and the front desk staff made every effort to ensure our stay wasnt disrupted in any way as a result. Also want to make a special mention to Ashan Fernando at Authenticity Sri Lanka tours and his fabulous team who helped arrange once in a life time trips including private boat trips away from the masses to see the spectacular blue whale and swim with dolphins. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM ! All in all pls visit Sri Lanka and stay here - SL has had a tricky time lately but we would not hesitate to go back or recommend, its a fantastic place to visit and we cant wait to returnMore
Highly Recommended. We recently held our wedding ceremony at Shangri-la and it was an absolute success thanks to the very helpful staff at the hotel. We had to go through a lot of trouble due to the sudden curfew on the scheduled date and the hotel was very helpful to set us up in with a new date very close to the original date. They were supportive of all our requests and especially the event coordinator Prithvi from the resort exceeded our expectations. The overall experience was absolutely fantastic. The only feedback on improvement would be that the hotel security refused to share a letter with the participants to go back as we held the event at a curfew time. This was the general practice by all hotels to support all guests go back without trouble. This created some issues for some of the guests and a few vendors. Despite that small hiccup, We had an amazing event and a stay there. Thank you, Shangri-la. Even the day we spent there was wonderful. The entire staff was very helpful in every way.More
After the awful flight from Lon to Sri Lanka we spent just over 3 hours transferring to the hotel. We have stayed at many Shagri-La so accustomed to the quality of the rooms and attention to detail. Our driver was great he drove us in a Mercedes Vito which was arranged with the hotel directly and he became our tour guide/driver for the week.. Arrived in our Suite - it was the farthest suite we could have gotten, but plenty of space for the 3 of us with big balcony overlooking the sea and the 17th hole on the golf course. We chose a full board package so figured we wouldn't need to spend too much on food but catered for the alcohol bill :) Daily Dinners were in the Buffet Dining Hall and we felt looked after with a real personal attention form the staff in the dining rooms. The suite itself was dining/lounge and large bedroom with Super King bed, there was also a really big luggage room/dressing area and a large bathroom. Plenty of different places to eat and the grounds/pools and gardens were kept in great shape considering how badly Covid has been to Sri Lanka. The pools - one for adults on the farthest side of the resort nearer to the Spa, the Kids Pools and main adults/Kids pool were almost next to eachother. Again we organised tours and trips with the hotel and the driver took us to Kandy, Ella and organised the amazing train ride accross the mountains through the tea plantations. the final day we went to Colombo and stayed in the Shangri-La there - separately reviewed.. The main reason for this trip was my wifes bday and we celebrated that with a special meal (again thanks to the catering staff) as well as a cake and champagne in the room which was a nice surprise for her. The golf course is superb, a real challenging course (especially if a crocodile eats your ball) and I utilised a caddy who was excellent and walked me round the tougher parts of the coureMore
