We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days in Taj coral to celebrate our silver jubilee wedding anniversary. Staff are amazingly great, polite and always there to exceed the Customers expectations. We were taken a tour by Raveen, a young and energetic employee who explained about the property in detail and completed the check-in formality. Being vegetarian, the food part was very well take care by the chef, every day Chef used to come to our table to get a feedback on the food and fulfilled all our needs, tastes, did not miss true Indian taste. Kennan who served us most of the days in the restaurant is an amazing host who works tirelessly and kept us always happy by his humour, service. The whole show is run seamlessly by a big team, many are behind the scene, hats off to their dedication. We were taken for a sun set boat trip, which we felt was not at all safe. I am a British Indian, living in UK and this is definitely unsafe service which was not expected by Taj Top deck has hardly 3 feet skirt and no hand rail and people are allowed to sit there with rough sea. And boat has full emission of diesel fumes which almost all were complaining of. We hired a photo shoot of 1 hour (15 mins x 4 times). This was required for us to capture the memories of 25th wedding anniversary for years to come. We were given a memory stick with pictures shot and when back home checked, last day photos were not included for some reason nor we were told it is not included. Infant memory stick was ready a day before our departure, if for any reason photos of last day were corrupted, we could have been asked for another session on last day. This was very disappointing, with our giving us any clue just handed over the memory stick. Photographer was very polite and nice person through out the sessions. We took moon deck dinner for our anniversary day on 9th Dec, was a great service by the person who served us (sorry can't remember his name). If a music system can be arranged there in moon deck, would be more romantic for the couple who prefer to have some romantic music, this may may be taken as a suggestion. We used spa, though bit pricey but the spa staff were amazing and had a great relaxation. Taj should think of giving a small souvenir to guests like a magnet souvenir to make it memorable. Wedding anniversary greeting by GM, a cake and beautiful bed decoration made Our wedding anniversary memorable. The last day we left with a big smile and were transferred to air port by speed boat, staff waved us fromThis is the best option for Vegetarians visiting Maldives. shore. Amazing holiday we had with Taj, thank you so much.Read more
We have just spent 12 days at the Taj Coral Reef and had a wonderful holiday. We had 7 nights in a beach villa and 5 nights in a water villa on an all inclusive deal. We actually preferred the flexibility of the beach villa to the water villa because of the access to the beach and the shade of the trees during the day. The All inclusive is fantastic. The food is superb and there is a very wide range of drinks on offer. The staff are very friendly and helpful. All in all a wonderful holiday and we'd thoroughly recommend it.Read more
Being a Taj property the service was expected to be great and it was true to the word.i was travelling with family including a 1 yr old baby boy and I visited the resort for his bday.... staff was very courteous and took great care of our food requirements for the baby.... it felt homely ....special thanks to chef Arun...resort is clean and beautiful.... we could snorkel on the open beach and it was wonderful to see the coral n sea life... best part was the sting ray arrival every evening at 5pm sharp.... I took half board option and it was easily manageable.... only downside is that beach is rocky n small...n resort is an hour drive from airport if u planning to go to male city it will b difficult.... plus u don’t have the view of water villas as u would imagine in Maldives ....overall a great place to be Read more
An exceptional resort, remarkably well run... A systematic pick up and drop is organised from airport in a neat speedboat; prompt in-cottage check ins. We opted for a beach villa, which opened up to the beach with pristine white sand and spell binding views of sunset. The house keeping team is brilliant-- Jesil, leads by example. The fumigation and room upkeep is meticulous and yet unobtrusive. Breakfast smorgasbord changes daily and is eclectically chosen-- the resident Heron bird of hotel keeps u good company. Snorkeling experiences are fun, even amateurs can enjoy in the lagoon, abutting the infinity pool. The best part of the resort is the evening sting ray feeding tea ceremony--- when almost all the house guests, arrive on the beach to watch sting rays, manta rays, black tip sharks and jack fish frantically compete with each other for morsels fed by hotel staff. The spectacle takes place in almost perfect setting of sun going down, pleasant evening zephyr, and cold bvgs & hors d'oeuvres provided by resort kitchen. Equally beatific is the late night post dinner ambiance around the main jetty, when bar's live music creates a perfect symphony with sound of waves crashing on the shore, underneath the star spangled sky. With so much to commend the resort, i feel rather guilty of giving it four stars, instead of a full five. Actually, a more apt rating would have been 4.5, but since trip advisor rating metric doesn't allow halves, one would deduct a point for some irritants-- I particularly found the idea of charging daily rent (plus service charge) for giving life jackets to guests rather strange. This is particularly grotesque because the snorkeling equipment is given for free. I think it would be better optics, if hotel charges for snorkeling equipment, but gives life jacket for free use-- you can charge for leisure but not for guests' safety! Second, the merchandise store very ably handled by talented Anna, is rather insufficiently stocked-- so in case you are keen to carry Maldives memorabilia, then not much to choose. Third-- some elements of resort take time to wake up-- I went to gym at 7, and would not find any assistance--even the air conditioning and lights were off-- and it is a struggle to get them on. The bigger irritant has to do,with rough edges of some of the young ushering staff of breakfast cafe. It unfortunately happened on the last day, when we arrived at breakfast at 715 and were rather abruptly told, that we would need to feed ourselves on cold cuts and pastries as the chef staff hadn't arrived yet for the preparing the menu items. This despite the fact, that restaurant timings are 7-10 and they were expecting several guests in the morning, who were to return to Male by the boat scheduled at 730. Thankfully and in quintessentially Taj style the situation was quickly and deftly handled by Mr Kannan, the seasoned staff member. Small quibbles, in an overall memorable stay. To reiterate, there is much to recommend Taj Coral Reef Resort and at this price point in Maldives-- it is one of the best. I wish i could rate it 4.5, instead of 4.Read more
We are staying at the resort for 10 days 2-12 February. We have the water bungalow 111 which is placed in the middle of the bungalows. We can walk right into the water and snorkle with colourful fish right from the terrasse. There is a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea with plenty of sun chairs. Their spa has a big selection of treatments and they give amazing massages. The dive centre offers many different sailing trips and snorkle trips as well as dives. Food is amazing and if our kids don’t like what is on the menu they make something special to them. In general the staff is extraordinary nice and tentative. While staying here we have had the pleasure of special good treatment from the waiters Kannan, Selam and Ibrahim. Raveen greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the island. We are relaxing all day in great atmosphere and hope that we will be able to come back some day to this paradise resort!Read more
