Beautiful resort with lovely staff and quality food. Almost Every night the in-house restaurant had a different cuisine that was suitable for everyone. Eating food by the beach with a view just made everything so luxurious. The rooms were spotless and the room cleaning service was very good. More
One of the Iconic hotels in Oman. A true sample of excellent hospitality. The front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant, and helpful. Overall, I had a great experience with the Crowne Plaza, Salalah.More
Except the prices compared to other 5* hotels in the country, the Crown Plaza Resort Salalah has not the same standard. Obviously, the hotel is now mainly focusing on the package tourists from Eastern Europe which have different requirements than individual 5* hotel guests. The hotel has just been renovated, a few areas are still under renovation. Our renovated but quite small room was ok. The gym is still in a temporary location, but still good. The spacious public beach in front of the hotel is really a dream, very clean and empty. Internet / Wifi was available in most hotel areas. The hotel staff without exception was outstanding friendly and helpful. The new restaurant building (Blue Beach House restaurant with Dolphin Terrazza / Skybar on top) located at the beautiful beach, and the Pool Bar near to it are excellent locations. Unfortunately, the Dolphin Terrazza / Sky Bar opens only late afternoon (should be open at least for lunch and better for a-la-carte breakfast) and beside a few salads, the menus of the Dolphin Terrassa / Skybar and the Pool Bar offer just very expensive junk food like pizza and pasta but no fresh and clean food such as fish, vegetables, Arabic mezze, etc. The Blue Beach House restaurant just offers international buffet. The Al Khareef Pub offers some alternative food, but we want to enjoy sitting at the beach and not on an old terrace without any charme in front of Al Khareef Pub. So, most of the time we had our dinner in the city (e.g. Baalbek Lebanese Restaurant, with excellent fresh food we would expect in the Crown Plaza Resort Hotel Salalah). Furthermore, only the Al Khareef Pub serves fresh beer from the tap, but not the restaurants at the beach. There they serve beer from the can (in a 5 star hotel!) and from bottles. At the Pool Bar there is no shade at the tables, you have to take your lunch in the full sun. Just one completely overwhelmed employee tried to manage everything, especially during lunch time. To get a salad one time took more than 45 minutes. Bread, salt and pepper arrived much later. There is no a-la-carte breakfast menu in the hotel, just buffet. Unfortunately, the Birds Lounge Café in the hotel lobby where they could serve coffee and a croissant in the morning, only opens at around noon. Room service is no alternative, as we were offered, we want to enjoy the view at the sea. As summar, the service is escellent, food and drinks very expensive but average. The management of the hotel has really to work on the confusing concept. Obviously, individual guests are not welcomed anymore, just package tourists.More
What a location! Out of town, right on the Indian Ocean, beautiful beach, shady gardens and perfect December weather. Rooms were comfortable but rather dated. Beds divinely comfortable. Food was served as close to the beach as possible and the self service offering was exceptional. Lots for the children to do and room for everyone to relax in the shade, the sun and on the beach.More
Too much furniture in the room. Loose legs on chairs are a hazard. No valet parking. Accessibility to the parking from the hotel lobby is cumbersome. The Beach location is great. The Ocean Blue Beach House is great. From last night, the only good thing about it. More
