Food at this venue has gone sharply downhill. Visited yesterday (04/04) for iftar in Ramadan 2023. Very poor offerings compared to last Ramadan yet prices have been raised BD1 with Entertainer to BD7 per head. Gone was the ghozi laham; instead had purported majboos on offer with the boney chicken all burned and appearing to be recycled from.a previous iftar. Barely edible. Photo attached. Beef stew wasn't bad but I did not like the sauce with the baked fish. My colleague found only the lentil soup and salad to be appetizing. He felt cheated by this Ramadan offering. We will cease to patronize this venue now and in the future. So bad was the majboos that I complained to the food and beverage manager. They need to stop recycling food and replace the chef immediately.
Last year availed of Ramadan buffet at Da Rosa two times this Ramadan (2022). First time, early in Ramadan, I was impressed with the assortment of the food but many food items, with the notably exception of the lamb and rice, were not kept hot and, in some instances, were cold. However, I really enjoyed the smoked salmon and, to a lesser extent, the beef stroganoff. For dessert, they had on offer mahallabiyya, which was very delicious, and I consumed five portions. I enjoyed the Ramadan drink jallab. It was apparent that during the next visit, which was a Saturday rather than the previous weekday visit, the offerings were cheapened. Gone was the smoked salmon. I struggled to find anything appetizing except the lamb and rice. Given the absence of choice, I settled for a second portion of lamb and rice. For dessert, gone was the mahallabiya. Instead, they replaced it with something that appeared to be recycled mahallabiyya with caramel added. One spoonful was more than enough. Settled for creme caramel but that wasn't delicious enough to warrant a second portion. My colleague had exactly the same opinion. With Entertainer coupons, working out to BD6 per head, one probably shouldn't complain too much but the degradation of the offering, comparing the second to the first visit, was palpable. I think if you have young children, it is a good choice as there is a recreation room for them inside the restaurant. Otherwise, for an extra BD1.500 per head using Entertainer, you would be better advised to go across the street to La Mosaique in Crown Plaza, where the assortment of food and drink options dwarfs that of Da Rosa.
