Stayed at Akyra TAS for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon between 11th - 13th of Feb. From the moment we got to the hotel, the staff were lovely and friendly, and couldn't do enough for us. We were given a lovely suite and walked in our bedroom to find a nice display they had done for us. The suite was large, spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. The bathroom was lovely, bed was comfortable and we had a large balcony with great views. The hotel has a small rooftop pool which is perfect for a dip and a great rooftop bar which does good cocktails and is good value for money, especially during happy hour. The breakfast was really nice, with a good selection of Thai and western dishes. We also eat at the restaurant the 2nd night which again was really good value and the food was beautiful. Would recommend the tuna tartare and yellow curry with crab. Finally, the location of the hotel is also perfect with lots of bars nearby and good transport links. Would definitely recommend and would say it is one of the best hotel experiences we have had. Thanks for the great start to our honeymoon.Read more
Stayed for three nights. Very clean and comfortable. The staff are always very helpful and the service excellent.Great location for sight seeing in the day and travelling back to the hotel to freshen up for the evening. Right in the heart of Bangkok so very busy but the Akyra Sukhumvit is a little gem for peace and quiet in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.Read more
Akyra Sukhumvit is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the world (SLH), and SLH recently started participating in the World of Hyatt program. I spent one night at the Akrya ahead of my return flight to Portland, OR and used a Hyatt category 1-4 free night certificate to cover the room rate. The Akyra is a small boutique hotel located just off of Sukhumvit Rd close to a Skytrain stop. The hotel, itself, is still a little difficult to find especially if you're on foot. The building is not tall and does not stand out next to its taller and more imposing neighbors. The lobby is small but the welcome extended by the staff is generous. PLUSES: 1. Spacious, contemporary sleek rooms. Very comfortable and elegantly dressed king-sized bed. 2. Complimentary, fast WiFi 3. Rooftop bar and dining that provides nice views of the Bangkok skyline. Moderate prices for quality food and drinks. I enjoyed a solo dinner! 4. Friendly and solicitous service. MINUS: 1. The Akyra has a fitness room (almost an afterthought) located next to the rooftop bar, but it's very small and poorly eqjuipped: One treadmill, one upright bicycle, and one rowing machine constitute the bulk of the aerobic options. One entire wall is glass, which affords nice city views but also allows sunshine to keep the room uncomfortably warm, especially when exercising. The inadequacy of the fitness room is almost a deal breaker for me! 2. The rooftop pool is certainly inviting in Bangkok's heat, but it really is nothing more than a large plunge pool. Great place to cool off, but actual swimming is not possible. Overall, the Akyra is a great place to stay, and its boutique nature is especially appealing. Being affiliated with Hyatt is a tremendous advantage as points can be earned and redeemed the same as regular Hyatt properties. Complimentary breakfast (which I missed because of an early morning departure for the airport) and room upgrades are also part of the benefits. Improve the fitness facilities, and I won't hesitate to return.Read more
I picked this hotel because I was looking for "green" hotels for our journey to Thailand. I mean, we're flying across the world which in itself is enough to get a guilty conscience, I didn't want to contribute further to worldwide pollution by using the well known single use plastic amenities which are offered in basically every hotel. Akyra Sukhumvit claims on their website they are single-use plastic free, and I wasn't disappointed. Bathroom, bins, breakfast, no plastic to be seen. Very well done, guys! And it is proof, if we want to, we can achieve change! But environmental aspects aside, we had a fab stay in the hotel! The service is excellent (we didn't know how to get hot water in the shower and notified the staff, by the time we got up to the 3rd floor by elevator, somebody was already waiting at our door for us to explain), breakfast is vast with a wide variety of local and western dishes. Adding the rooftop bar and the marvellous view over the skyline on top of everything, when coming back to the hotel and having a drink, after a long day in the busy streets of Bangkok, one can only have a great time. You've made two travellers very happy!Read more
My husband and I stayed here somewhat randomly as he booked with rewards points. We loved this hotel, it was one of the favorite places we stayed in Thailand and we wished we had stayed for more than one night. Our room was upgraded to a suite, which was lovely. The staff was very kind and professional. The breakfast was stellar. Overall, a fantastic experience and we will definitely stay here on another visit. Read more
