The hotel was smaller and not as close to local amenities than what I initially expected. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. However, I was asked how I’d like to pay for the room which was already paid for - this was quickly resolved. I was asked if I’d like a smoking or non-smoking room and was assured my room was non-smoking. On entering the room, it was light and bright, however quite tired and dated. There are tea/coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board and a fridge. You are also given 1L of water per day which is a blessing in the heat. The bathroom was very small, quite claustrophobic almost and the hairdryer was not very powerful. I chose to use my own. My room overlooked the rear of the hotel and was very quiet - I was worried about road noise but this was not an issue for me. Only one night, I did not sleep well but this was due to the noise of other guests in the hallway. After coming back to my room after a long day out, it smelt of smoke, I dismissed it due to the time at which I was returning and had hoped it was just a one off. On the second day of my stay, there was also an awful smell of sewage in the bathroom. I had a very busy schedule and did not spend much time in the room, however as a non-smoker every time I came back, it smelt strongly of smoke, this was hugely disappointing. I did not ask to change room because when I was checking in, I heard the receptionist say they were fully booked and as I was not smoking in my room, I figured it was coming through the vents or something. Upon my return home, I have had to wash all of my unworn clothes due to the smell of smoke. I guess I have been spoilt by hotels with balconies and countries that don’t allow smoking inside. Due to my schedule, I did not attend breakfast so I cannot comment on this. The cafe staff were very friendly and the wrap sandwich I had was delicious. I also ate in the bar which was also very good. Overall, the staff were lovely but I’m not sure I would use this hotel again.
