This is a really nice contemporary Japanese style restaurant with great views of the Burj Khalifa Fountain, and you can see the fountain shows if you sit outside. The food is really nice, good quality and generous potions for Japanese cuisine which I expected much smaller. The Miso cod and Brocollini were really richly flavoured. The crab salad was ok, my mum had teriyaki salmon which was really juicy. Service was quick and efficient, if you use the QR code to view the menu you can see photos of all the food, portions are much bigger than what the photos seem. Prices are expensive of course. We were lucky to get a table without reservation as we came around 8pm on a weekday, but after that it was pretty much all reserved. So I think if you are coming around half 8 or 9pm, a reservation is definitely needed, particularly if in a group.

Ratings at the end. Like for more. Katais is a great example of locally-owned resturants that aim to provide an authentic experience with a personal touch. Bold and diverse menu that'll need multiple visits to cover. The Miso Ramen loses points for Ajitama’s marination but overall satisfying. The ribs were incredibly tender and mouthwatering. Loved the Japanese tradition of offering free water. Coming back soon. Short Ribs 4.4/5 ❤‍🔥 Miso Ramen 4/5 🔥 Crispy Tuna Bites 3.4/5

A real hidden gem in Dubai Mall, we celebrated our daughter’s 18th birthday at KATO, the team made it a very special night, from the ambience to the service and then the delicious fusion Japanese food. Shout out to MJ our waiter…the guy was brilliant and Abid both were fantastic along with all the other lovely staff. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing place! It’s a combination of fresh ingredients, talented and stylish chef, good taste, superb location and service. We not only enjoyed the food but the whole atmosphere surrounding us, fountain shows, great music, chilled weather (even it’s a summer evening in June). You can decide to have an inside table as well. So you will dine in a very stylish, modern Japanese themed interior design.

Much recommended! Was helped by Saqlain, very friendly and kind. I came just for something sweet and wasn’t disappointed. Very good cappuccino, good dessert and impressive presentation of Sendai storm mocktail. While you are sipping your mocktail, you can enjoy a fountain show.
