bristly bull (a week ago )
We stayed at the Holiday Inn over Christmas and New Year's Eve. First of all, we can recommend the newly opened Holiday Inn Dubai Business Bay. The review is based on the impressions we gained during the mentioned period. A follow-up on actions will take place at a later date.
Check-in:
The staff at the entrance and at check-in are very friendly and helpful. Due to our early arrival, we booked an early check-in for an additional charge. If you check in early, breakfast is unfortunately not included in the price. All in all, a major deviation.
Improvement: 94.35€ is expensive for an early check-in. After a long journey, it is not fair to charge the customer additional costs on top for breakfast.
Rooms and facility:
The standard king size bed rooms offer enough space for 2 people. The furniture is new, comfortable and tastefully decorated with enough storage space, a safe and a refrigerator. The room service is great and everything inside is cleaned properly. A typical Dubai room upgrade for guests who have booked a longer stay is not provided here. The water pressure in the shower is low but still acceptable. The rooms do not have a Burj Khalifa View and the windows weren't even cleaned from the outside throughout the entire stay. You can only partially see the iconic building from the Suite and in the common areas on floors P1 and P2 in the outdoor pool and breakfast area. The pool and gym were clean and it's nice that the Hotel is providing a laundry service, but be aware - 200dh for a wash is quite expensive. The laundry service across the street charged for the same wash (5x Pairs of Socks, Underwear, T-Shirts and one Sweatshirt) 60dh. All in all a major deviation.
Improvement: Recheck the pressure of the water-delivering-pump on the upper floor. Recheck the rates for the laundry and hire an external service provider to clean the windows from the outside.
Breakfast:
The breakfast buffet is well organized and offers enough choice for all guests. You will get pastry, warm and cold dishes, fresh fruits and different juices. Here too, the cleanliness is good and the staff is very attentive and helpful. We would recommend a 2nd or 3rd coffee machine to avoid a long queue here. All in all just a recommendation for continuous improvement process.
Room occupancy:
We found the room occupancy to be chaotic. It‘s understandable because the processes are not yet fully established and immediately after the opening, the Christmas and New Year's Eve time is a challenging one. We had a noisy family next door with children who were up until 3am. We changed rooms upon request. All in all a minor deviation.
Improvement: Due to the thin walls, we would recommend to proceed in stages and separate singles and couples from families.
Security:
Unfortunately we had another problem with the new neighbors in the next room. A woman in Room-No. 1810 screamed several times on New Year’s Eve and couldn't breathe because her husband was choking her. The security service reacted immediately, but only asked them to calm down. An unpleasant situation as a guest to experience something like that on New Year's Eve. All in all a critical deviation.
Improvement: Monitor the situation from outside over a longer period of time and take effective actions. The violent man should have been banned from entering the hotel again.
Conclusion:
The hotel is well located and if you don't mind the missing Burj Khalifa view, you will generally have a good stay here. You have to make some compromises here and there. As long as you can keep distance to the additional services, the price-performance ratio for room and breakfast is justified.
