Romeo and Vero Vegan Butcherie

I had an amazing experience! The restaurant is quite small and we were the only guests there, but that gave it a really intimate and cozy atmosphere. I loved the music playing! The service was great, same as the sauces and salad dressing and of course the experience of eating vegan meat (great texture!). We were served by the cook himself meaning we could ask questions about the food he prepared and he answered them patiently. Sadly they did not have as many deserts anymore as indicated on older menus online. I tried the lemon cake, which was very flavourful with a little twist of salted peanuts on top. It was a bit too salty in the end for me, but still a very fulfilling vegan cake!

We had a wonderful dinner at the vegan butcherie. My vegetarian girlfriend was almost scared to eat it. The texture of the 'meat' Romeo makes is impressively alike and shows tremendous skill and dedication. We were the only guests when we went, which made for a nice experience as we had the opportunity to speak with Romeo, but what he offers deserves a full house.

Best little secret in Cape Town. Very chill, understated, and “upstart” feeling, but with amazing food for all. Large portions, great service, and amazing deserts. Truly great value for money, but excellent seasoning and flavors. If you’re a foodie, you must try this masterful chef’s unique take on old standards, your mind and taste buds will be blown!

Unbelievably tasty food! The staff was very friendly, the food was amazing and the restaurant is cosy. Received a complementary plate of samosas! The steak, potato and green beans is something I won’t forget any time soon. A vegan “must” when in Cape Town!

Had the most amazing experience here! The owner was extremely nice and accommodating, it was the only restaurant I went back to twice during my trip. I told them I wanted to try the Caesar salad but as an entre rather than a meal and they easily accommodated for that request and the portion was still huge! Really yummy vegan meat. On the pictures I ordered the Caesar salad, the vegan ribs and the vegan steak biscuits with mashed potatoes, and got the vegan salmon to go. The meats were amazing, but I would have to say the fish was the closest in flavour to the real thing. My only recommendation would be to improve the mashed potatoes. But I 100% recommend the vegan butcherie for the food and experience, thanks so much!! xx
