Ate here while staying in the hotel and we were very happy! The food came out quick and was delicious! The service was excellent as usual and I wish we ate there more than once during our stay. One of the best ones I have eaten at.More
The variety and quality was really good for the afternoon dim sum buffet. Those with big appetites will really enjoy as it's free flow on any of the buffet items. Some of the better Chinese food that can be found in Dubai. The ambience is really nice as well. We really liked that it was served to the table, so we could really enjoy talking to each other. More
I ordered gai lan, stir fried duck with baby asparagus and bell pepper with a bowl of steamed rice. The stir fried duck was recommended by the waitress. The gai lan (long stem broccoli) was cooked well, however was pepped up with a generous dose of MSG. The duck was not recognisable as duck. It was served in weird clumps in an overly salty sauce. The texture was rubbery and jelly like. I closed my eyes and chewed. There was nothing duck like about it. Sautéed duck could be cooked 2 ways in a 5* hotel. Either the duck is slow cooked at a low temperature, then fried (which would make it both tasty and tender) or fresh duck is sliced thinly and sautéed, which would give it a firmer texture but would still be acceptable. The duck I was served was neither. I would guess that it was processed offsite, tumbled in starch and flavourings and boiled in the bag. My mouth is very dry from the MSG. Neither an Earthly Paradise not a Himalayan Utopia, this restaurant should be avoided.More
Service was a bit slow. My friend ordered the deep fried chicken breast with dried chili and Sichuan pepper. I ordered the Kung Pao-style wok fried chicken. We split the Fu Juan-style fried rice with roasted duck and chicken. I had a Corona and my friend had a Moscow Mule. Food was very good. Service was slow. More
First went to the Shang Palace 7 years ago and went regularly when we were in Dubai. Was one of the best Chinese restaurants we'd ever visited. We've had a couple of year gap since our last visit tending to stay nearer the Palm these days. It certainly isn't what it used to be. Menu appears cut-down, where has the gorgeous mixed appetizer for two gone? Also the quality didn't appear to be what it used to. Not a bad meal, just not the excellence we remember. More
