A new Asian restaurant Kaia in the beautiful @theneddoha hotel. Lovely interior design and beautiful views of Al Bidda Park and Banyan Tree Hotel.
Started off with their Kimchi Salad, perfectly spicy and tangy, nice way to start the meal. Then tried a few dishes from their starters. My favorite was the Yuzu Corn with Miso Butter which was incredible with crushed wasabi edamame beans. Also got the Asparagus, tender pieces of asparagus served with honey dressing. Another dish that was incredible was their Eryngii Mushroom served with sweet soy sauce, the mushroom was super meaty and full of umami flavor. We also tried their Steamed Dumplings, that was filled with tender chicken and prawns, very nice!
For the main courses, we got the Spicy Hawaiian Chicken, this was my favorite dish. The chicken was very tender and juicy full of coconut flavor. Another dish was the Teriyaki Salmon, unfortunately this dish was very bland and barely had enough sauce. The salmon itself was a bit tough too. To compliment these dishes we tried their Coconut Rice, very yum and perfect combo with the Spicy Hawaiian Chicken.
For dessert, we tried 3 different dishes. The Robata Pineapple, which in my opinion was a waste of money for a few slices of pineapples cooked in cinnamon and sugar, but it was served with a light and refreshing coconut sorbet. Also tried the White Chocolate Cherry & Matcha Cake, it was an okay dessert but nothing too special. Finally we got the Selection of Mochi, which had mango, green tea and chocolate flavors. The the rice shell of the mochi felt a bit old and dry, the ice cream was good, nothing to complain about.
Service after our meals was very very slow and inattentive. After finishing our main courses, they asked if we wanted any desserts, and they put down the menu on the dirty table. Even after ordering dessert, they didn't clean our table until after 15 minutes, right before the dessert arrived.
