First the good points the villa it’s self was great and the private pool is the biggest we have had slightly annoying the daybed was in the shade I requested a sun lounger from reception and it arrived within 30mins. The beach was stunning just a shame you couldn’t move the loungers they all seemed close together and in the shade. We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment it was very expensive so we had some massages on the beach instead. You can borrow bikes from the resort which is fun but there is not really anywhere to go! Food at the edge was really good and we enjoyed the happy hour! Prices were expensive for Thailand but average for the standard of hotel. It really is a shame there is not much to do in the area there are 2 restaurants which were average and 2 other hotels so if you enjoy getting out and about this isn’t the hotel for you! Read more
We stayed for 8 nights on a bed & breakfast basis in an Ocean Loft Suite and experienced a really great short break vacation. For us, a mature couple from the UK, the resort met all of our needs and more. It was quiet, contemporary, spotlessly clean and the beach is just stunning with a gentle pure sandy slope into the waves, no hawkers, no litter, no seaweed and no people!!! The food is "top notch" and across the two restaurants we did not have to repeat any lunch or dinner dish twice......such was the choice. It has to be said that the cost of alcohol is high in most resorts and here this is no exception. However the wine quality and choice was excellent. The Spa facility is also of the highest standard. It is easy to find faults in any resort but here ALL of the staff were quick to respond and correct the few minor irritations we found....none of which negatively impacted on our stay. We will return.Read more
I spent 3 days and 2 night with some friends before moving on to Bangkok, I really wished I had booked a longer stay in order to enjoy the beach and tropical vibes. This place is beautiful, I like the option of choosing my room on the beach side or private villa with pool. I would definitely visit again sometime in the future.Read more
We have enjoyed our visit a great deal. The location is beautiful with a pristine beach, no hawkers, just guests and people living in the adjacent villas. The resort supports a turtle sanctuary. We saw a small turtle on the beach 100m from the hotel. As a ‘green’ resort they have done well to limit plastic to a minimum ( note disposable chopsticks come in a plastic sleeve- paper should be used). Providing drinking water in recyclable glass bottles. There are fresh local vegetables and organic grains. Then the crowning glory is the spa which is truly world class. Compared to other lovely places we have visited in the Far East we have the following observations: Pool villas are lovely but many are overlooked by the staff accommodation. We rejected the first villa offered. A easy solution would be to use obscure or frosted glass on the staff windows but may still be unacceptable to some of the guests. I refused to use the outdoor whirlpool as there is a slimy line of green algae along the watermark which runs all the way around the pool. Our housekeeper is very considerate and brought extra water and towels when asked them kept up the supplies daily. The food is of a lesser standard compared to similar resorts with little variety apart from the daily specials. There are noticeable variations in the same dish ordered on different days. We opted for full board and most evenings the Natai is almost empty as most guests go out to eat. The staff are very friendly and helpful in both restaurants. There is no bar in the hotel as the shutter is broken at the Edge and the pool bar is not in use. It means for the pre dinner drinks we have to find a sofa on the beach if vacant or use a table which may be annoying for other guests who want to have dinner. There is a mishmash of beach furniture as it seems the resort has run out of the brown metal and nylon sun loungers and borrowed some white PVC loungers with blue mattresses from the Akyra which is the lesser sister hotel. The WiFi is intermittent and weak. After a few frustrating days the reception team fixed a 4G personal WiFi which is perfect. We found the staff at reception very helpful and efficient whenever there is a query or request. Now for the spa. The team are well trained with some therapists speaking quite good English. The space is beautiful in design with many lovely details as clearly there is a sense of offering the best experience to the customers. For the lovely treatments we have enjoyed I will not hesitate to come back again.Read more
We've just returned from a week's stay at the Aleenta Phuket and, while the beach is absolutely fantastic, there are a number of things about the resort itself that don't work quite as well as they should. So, starting off with the positives. The beach is A-MAZING! Soft, white sand, goes on for miles and miles, clear water and no seaweed or other debris under foot. It truly is one of the most magical beaches I've ever visited. The other positive of the hotel is how nice the staff are. Very nice, and always trying to help. But unfortunately there's a "but". While the staff are very nice and always trying to help, it's often difficult to communicate with them because they don't speak very good English. It was difficult at times for me, but for others we spoke to, for whom English is not a first language, it was very difficult to understand and be understood. Unfortunately this wasn't the only issue with the hotel. The beach is a great selling point for the hotel but, for a SLH property one would expect better service. The hotel has 75 rooms/suites but when we were there they only had 16 sun umbrellas. It's a great beach and lots of people want to visit it but they couldn't safely. On top of that, the beach service was really poor. At 5 star properties you expect the beach to be manned and waiters to circulate regularly with water and maybe fruit pieces. Someone came round once/day with water. But there was precious-little additional service. And most days there wasn't anyone manning the beach at all until after 9am. Housekeeping was another area which was poor. We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Pool Villa [which NOTE is across a public road from the rest of the resort facilities and the beach]. Most days the room was not made up until after 14.00 unless we specifically requested it. Turn down was at 17.00 or 17.30. Given how hot it was most people were back in their villas by lunch time. To not have it cleaned was poor. Several days glasses weren't cleaned and towels were taken but not replaced. The restaurants were OK, but not great. On our first night they had a buffet at The Edge. The price was a complete con but they have a captive audience. On other days and nights the food swung between very nice and rather disappointing. The Asian fusion restaurant, Natai, was very mixed and service was poor. Note that there is a good Thai restaurant within walking distance of the resort which is significantly cheaper than the resort restaurants. Breakfast at the Edge was fresh and good, but small and got a bit samey after a few days. The property itself is pretty and the rooms are a good size. The aircon in the Grand Deluxe Pool Villas is set up in such a way so that the person on one side of the bed is cool but the other side is warm. The bath linen could do with a refresh, but the shampoo etc was really good. The plunge pool in the villa was a great size and there's plenty of space. I was a bit disappointed with the amount of storage space which for two people for a week was a bit sparse. All in all it was a good holiday but there were enough things that didn't quite work that it wasn't quite the great holiday that it could have been.Read more
